Best LFM ACC Car Setups: Updated Weekly

Low Fuel Motorsport is ACC’s answer to a competitive iRacing-style online racing environment. LFM can be joined for free, and after you have qualified for an LFM license, you can compete online against other drivers in Assetto Corsa Competizione on PC, Xbox or PlayStation.

Sim racers will compete to improve their license class, as well as improving their rating. Race results are tracked across each season, giving sim racers a tangible way of tracking results and something to work towards.

In this guide, I’ll look at where to find the best LFM ACC car setups, what BOP setups are, and how to always have a competitive car for each week’s race.

What is LFM BOP in ACC?

Because each car in Assetto Corsa Competizione is slightly different in terms of performance, Low Fuel Motorsport has introduced its own balance of performance (BOP). Previously, when racing online, you would see the same cars regularly competing at the front of the grid for the win. This is because some cars are inherently faster than others.

The main way of affecting each car’s performance is by adjusting the cars weight using weight adjustments in the car setup. By making some cars heavier than others, it can bring parity to the level of performance that each car offers. This allows sim racers to race much more evenly, opening up the choice of competitive cars.

How does LFM BOP work?

The LFM BOP uses weight adjustments across a range of 40kg to balance each car’s potential performance. This BOP is adjusted dynamically each week based on the upcoming circuit on the LFM schedule.

By adding weight to a car, the car will be slower around a single lap due to the car feeling less nimble, more sluggish through corners and slightly slower on a straight. This is the reason why all racing teams across most motorsports try to make their cars as light as possible, as it will increase overall performance.

How is LFM BOP calculated?

All Low Fuel Motorsport servers utilise an air temperature of 23°C and a track temperature of 27°C. This ensures a level playing field at all times, and allows for representative lap times to be gathered.

Each car will then be used to put in the fastest lap time possible, creating a balance of performance table. The fastest lap times will be used to dictate how much of a weight adjustment is made to each car.

Weight is added to slow some cars down, reducing the potential fastest lap times. The goal each week is to create a level playing field where all cars in ACC are capable of producing the same lap time.

As an example of how the LFM BOP is calculated, we can use a two car example.

Car	Fastest lap	BOP adjustment	New fastest lap
Car 1	1:21.000	+10kg	1:21.150
Car 2	1:21.300	-10kg	1:21.150

If car 1 puts in a lap time of 1:21.000 and car 2 puts in a lap time of 1:21.300, the average lap time between these two cars would be calculated. In this case, the target lap time would be a 1:21.150.

Each track has a different BOP value, which refers to how much weight should be added to gain a specific amount of lap time. If the BOP value for this example is 0.150s per 10kg, then we can adjust the BOP for these two cars.

Car 1 would receive a penalty of 10kg being added to slow it down. Car 2 would have 10kg removed to make it faster. This would bring both cars level in terms of performance as car 1 would be slightly slower than before, and car 2 would be faster.

What are LFM BOP car setups?

LFM BOP car setups are created to take into account the weight adjustments made for a specific week. If a car has a BOP penalty of 21kg, for example, it would suddenly feel more sluggish and slower than before.

Which cars receive BOP changes?

Low Fuel Motorsport uses a custom BOP for all GT3 cars that are eligible for each race. Older GT3 cars that are outdated such as the old Aston Martin V12 Vantage are not included in the balance of performance updates, as their performance isn’t as comparable to newer cars.

Where to find the LFM season calendar?

The Low Fuel Motorsport calendar is available at the start of every season, and can be found on the LFM official Twitter page or on LFM’s website.

How long do LFM seasons last?

Each LFM season lasts for 12 weeks, with a different track being raced each week. After the 12 weeks are completed, the season will end, and a new season will be started.

Low Fuel Motorsport announces the upcoming schedule for the upcoming season in advance, so you will always know which tracks are going to be used for the upcoming LFM season.
