You may have seen concept images of CORSAIR’s first sim racing cockpit during mid-2024. This was originally planned to be the brand’s first entry into sim racing. However, with the CORSAIR acquisition of sim racing giant Fanatec at the end of 2024, the cockpit is now being released under the Fanatec branding.
The officially named Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit is the natural progression up from the budget CSL cockpit that was launched around a year ago. It replaces the now-discontinued RennSport cockpit as the brand’s premium sim rig.
Unlike many brands, which opt for the tried-and-tested aluminium profile cockpit design, Fanatec and Corsair have chosen 50mm diameter steel tubing to make up almost the entirety of the frame. This decision makes the appearance of the ClubSport GT cockpit more fluid and sleeker, however, we will need to put it through its paces before concluding just how strong and sturdy it is.
One area where the tubular frame does come into its own is with the assembly. Many elements of this cockpit come pre-built, including the entire pedal assembly, and this results in a much quicker and simpler construction. Unlike 8020 sim rigs which can often take a full day to assemble, it appears that the pre-built nature of this Fanatec GT Cockpit will enable a much faster build time.
At the heart of this Fanatec cockpit is the ability to adjust and customise various elements. The cockpit includes adjustable seat positions allowing for both GT and semi-F1 style seating positions through quick adjustments.
--- Article continues below --- Shop Sim Racing DiscountsYou can also quickly adjust the wheel base position thanks to two tool-free adjustment points that allow you to quickly slide your racing wheel into the desired position. The same applies to the pedals which can also be easily adjusted into position. Fanatec claim that this cockpit is suitable for sim racers up to 6′ 6″.
Having built many sim racing cockpits, I know just how hard and frustrating cable management can be. Fanatec has sim racers covered with the ability to run cables through the interior of the tubular frame. This lets you hide cables from view and easily manage the cables to your racing wheel, monitor and other accessories.
This Fanatec sim racing cockpit certainly isn’t the cheapest, and is a much more premium cockpit design than the companies CSL cockpit. The frame comes in either black or white, and is available for $799.99 / €914.95. That price will net you the frame only which includes an integrated monitor mount.
If you wish to purchase the Fanatec GT racing seat as well, that will be an additional $299.99 / €339.95, bringing the total cost up to $1099.98 / €1254.90.
