Le Mans Ultimate made a huge splash in 2025, quickly becoming one of the most played sim racing titles. It is even challenging popular sims such as Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing as the best GT simulator around.

But when it comes to choosing your racing wheel for LMU, which wheel is the best option? Are there specific GT or LMP style wheels that are well suited for Le Mans Ultimate, or should you opt for a more all-round wheel?

In this buyer’s guide, I’ll share my recommendations for the best racing wheels for Le Mans Ultimate. I’ve tested all of these wheels with LMU, and these top picks cover a range of different brands and budgets.

The overall best racing wheel for LMU

Fanatec GT DD Pro

Racing Wheel – Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro
Compatibility – PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S
Price – From €/$599.95
Where to buyBuy from Fanatec EU / Buy from Fanatec US

Pros of the Fanatec GT DD Pro

  • Excellent force feedback from its internal motor.
  • Compatible with most Fanatec steering wheels.

Cons of the Fanatec GT DD Pro

  • More expensive than CSL DD due to added PS5 compatibility.

The Fanatec GT DD Pro is a racing wheel that is a few years old, however, remains one of the very best wheels in the mid-range price category. It followed the CSL DD, using the same internal direct drive motor and technology, but added PS5 compatibility.

While Le Mans Ultimate is only PC compatible, this added console compatibility only extends the reach of this excellent small direct drive racing wheel.

Why I recommend the Fanatec GT DD Pro for Le Mans Ultimate

Despite it being a few years old, the GT DD Pro remains an excellent choice for any racing sim. In Le Mans Ultimate, the force feedback produced by this mid-range Fanatec wheel is excellent. It allows you to feel exactly how the GT and LMP cars interact with the track surface.

Best high-end racing wheel for Le Mans Ultimate

Simucube 2 Pro

Racing Wheel – Simucube 2 Pro
Compatibility – PC
Price – €1438 / $1379
Where to buyBuy from Simucube

Pros of the Simucube 2 Pro

  • Some of the very best force feedback available.
  • Widely compatible with most steering wheels.

Cons of the Simucube 2 Pro

  • More expensive than competitors.
  • QR locking pin is inconvenient.

When it comes to choosing the best high-end racing wheel for Le Mans UItimate, there are a few stand-out options. You have the Asetek Invicta and Simucube 2 Pro, which are both very comparable in terms of performance. You could also opt for the Fanatec ClubSport DD+ which offers added console compatibility, although this wheel is slightly underpowered.

My recommendation is the Simucube 2 Pro. It is the oldest of these three wheel bases, but still delivers some of the very best and smoothest force feedback of any racing wheel currently. The algorithm which drives the force feedback has been updated over the years to ensure the details and clarity of FFB remains top tier.

Why I recommend the Simucube 2 Pro

Simucube’s wheel bases are among the very best at producing incredibly smooth and detailed force feedback. There is no notchiness that other bases suffer from, and the performance available from the 2 Pro is class leading.

Best budget racing wheel for PS5

Racing Wheel – Logitech G923
Compatibility – PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S
Price – £379/$399
Where to buyBuy Logitech G923 UK/EU / Buy Logitech G923 US

Pros of the Logitech G923

  • A complete sim racing bundle with steering wheel and pedals.
  • Compatible with most racing games.
  • High quality materials.

Cons of the Logitech G923

  • Gear-driven force feedback isn’t as smooth as belt or direct drive.
  • Brake pedal can take some adjusting.
  • Steering wheel is not interchangeable.

When it comes to budget racing wheels, there are a good number of options in 2025. MOZA have their R3, Fanatec have the CSL DD, Thrustmaster have the T128, and Logitech has its G923.

That last option, the Logitech G923, from my time with all of the wheels above, remains the king of budget racing wheels. It is a superbly designed racing wheel, with one of the highest quality steering wheels, finished in perforated leather.

Despite it using a gear-driven motor, the force feedback from the G923 remains very good at this price range. When used with Le Mans Ultimate, you can really feel the weight of the GT and hypercars that you are driving. Depending on the version you get, the G923 is console compatible as well, future proofing it for when Le Mans Ultimate releases on Xbox and PS5.

Why I recommend the Logitech G923

The G923 is still one of the very best value racing wheels you can buy in 2025. The low price point and high build quality ensure this is a wheel that will outlast many others, while offering excellent performance within a budget price range.

What to look for when choosing a racing wheel for Le Mans Ultimate

Le Mans Ultimate has excellent force feedback, especially once you’ve dialled in the best LMU force feedback settings. For this reason, choosing a good racing wheel that is capable of a wide range of FFB effects is important.

Force Feedback

Force feedback is the term given to the forces that are generated by your racing wheel’s internal motor. They are translated from the telemetry in game, and converted into physical forces that let you feel how your car is behaving and interacting with the track.

FFB strength

There are a few terms that are used commonly with force feedback. These are Nm and direct drive. The Nm is the peak strength of your wheel. The higher the peak Nm, the stronger forces your wheel can generate. Typically, high-end wheels exceed 20Nm of peak force, and can stretch up beyond 30Nm.

Budget and mid-range wheels are much weaker, offering 2-10Nm of peak torque. Trying to maximise your wheel’s force feedback strength will ensure your wheel has good headroom if you want to extract more weight and peak force from your wheel.

Direct drive racing wheels

The other term commonly associated with racing wheels is direct drive. This is the term given to wheels that have a motor directly connected to the steering shaft. This is the pinnacle of sim racing, as almost all of the force feedback generated is then sent to the steering wheel.

Some budget wheels such as the Logitech G923 and Thrustmaster T128 do not use direct drive technology. Instead, they opt for smaller motors that are connected to the steering shaft via gears and belts. This allows the price to remain low at the sacrifice in both FFB strength and detail.

Compatibility

Compatibility can be import with any sim racing product. Currently, Le Mans Ultimate is only available on PC, so console compatibility isn’t a huge factor when choosing the right racing wheel for LMU.

However, it is stated that a console release isn’t far away, and LMU will eventually end up on Xbox and PS5 consoles. If this does happen, having a console-ready racing wheel will ensure you can maximise the platforms you can race on.

Price

Price is a huge factor when shopping for any sim racing hardware. Sim racing can be an expensive hobby, and wheel bases alone can stretch into the multiple thousands. Ensuring you stick to your budget is key to enjoying your time with LMU.

How I tested these racing wheels

Each of the racing wheels that I’ve recommended or mentioned in this buyer’s guide has been on my own sim rig at one point. I’ve reviewed most of the wheels in this guide, and sim raced with many others. From my time with Le Mans Ultimate, the wheels I’ve recommended have performed the best within their respective price range.

I tested all of these recommendations with each car class in LMU. The reason why this is important is that the force feedback from the GT cars differs a lot from the hypercars. So ensuring a wheel performs well with all car classes is important.

Frequently Asked Questions
