Fanatec has been busy cooking some new hardware over recent months. We saw a new cockpit launch with the ClubSport GT, a new wheel rim with the ClubSport GT3 Endurance, and now, a new sim racing wheel.
The Fanatec Porsche Vision GT steering wheel is a collaboration between Fanatec and Porsche, renewing the long-term partnership between both German brands.
If you’ve played Gran Turismo 7, you may have driven the Porsche Vision GT concept car. It is the cover car for the latest GT game, and the car on which this steering wheel is based. Fanatec has worked with Porsche to create a replica of the steering wheel used in the Vision GT car.
This is an exact replica, featuring the same design, layout, and functionality as the real-world concept car wheel. Being a concept car, it means this wheel has a futuristic design, which I rather liked during my time reviewing the wheel.
Below is our in-depth review for the new Fanatec Porsche Vision GT wheel.
Fanatec has positioned the Vision GT wheel in their CSL range of sim racing products. This means it is priced incredibly competitively. Below are the prices for the Fanatec Porsche Vision GT wheel in each region.
Region | Price |
---|---|
Europe | €349.95 |
United States | $439.99 |
Australia | $539.90 |
Japan | JPY 56,000.00 |
Priced at €349.95 or 9.99, the Porsche Vision GT fits nicely into the CSL price range, bridging the gap between the CSL and ClubSport range of products. It is priced similarly to other replicas such as the Thrustmaster SF1000 Formula 1 wheel.
--- Article continues below --- Shop Sim Racing DiscountsThe Fanatec Porsche Vision GT wheel serves primarily as a GT-style steering wheel. It has a diameter of 310mm, which makes it perfect for GT or LMP sim racing. Although it is a little on the large side for a formula-style wheel.
Being a Porsche licensed product, there is a large Porsche emblem across the front of the steering wheel, which elevates the premium look instantly. Fanatec has also introduced a new material called Tactaris with this sim racing wheel.
Tactaris is a high-quality microfiber material, that is like Alcantara, and is used to wrap the entire hand grip, as well as the centre dome. Fanatec states that Tactaris is more durable than Alcantara, as well as being breathable and sweat resistant.
Plastic makes up the rest of the wheel, with few metal elements visible. There is an aluminium chassis inside, which ensures rigidity, even at higher force feedback strengths. However, none of this metal is on show externally.
There is a set of magnetic paddle shifters on the rear of the wheel, which are constructed from metal and have been custom designed for this Porsche sim racing wheel. These feature a short throw and a really tactile, albeit quite loud, click.
On the front of the wheel, there are eight push buttons which can be configured in game. These are smaller than regular push buttons, but felt nice and tactile to operate. There are also six encoders, four of which are built into the handgrip, or close by. And another two are front facing encoders, which can be used as multi-position switches.
You also get a 7-way FunkySwitch which features the Fanatec branding on the front. This can be used as directional inputs, as well as rotational inputs in game.
On the right of the wheel, you’ll find an OLED display which is used for the tuning menu. It can also display live telemetry including speed and gears.
You can purchase the Fanatec Porsche Vision GT wheel from Fanatec’s website from today onwards. This sim racing wheel launched on the 17th April 2025 in all regions.
This new Fanatec steering wheel is compatible with PS4 and PS5 consoles. However, it isn’t compatible with Xbox consoles.
Fanatec has included a QR2 Lite quick release with this Porsche steering wheel. This is due to it being a CSL product, therefor, it has the cheapest quick release. Fanatec has removed all torque restrictions for this wheel, meaning it can be used with the ClubSport DD and DD+ wheel bases at full strength.
