How To Set Up & Get Started With Our F1 Overlays

Our F1 overlays are designed to bridge the gap between our telemetry platform, and in-game overlays that are both informative and helpful. It contains a range of real-time overlays that let you access key features of our Sim Racing Setups Telemetry platform such as AI coaching insights and comparing your laps to Pro Esports drivers.

What do I need to get started?

Getting started with our F1 Overlays is incredibly simple and can be used without a Pro plan in free mode. You will need the following things to get started;

• Sim Racing Setups account (Create an account here if you do not have one already)
• Download our F1 overlays app (Currently only available on Windows 11)

Steps to get our F1 Overlays running

With an account ready, and the F1 overlays app downloaded, follow the steps below to complete setup.

1. Install our F1 Overlays app. Download our app from the link above, and then click the .exe file to start installation. You may see a security notice, this is simply because our app is not signed. It poses no risk to your PC. Complete installation and launch the overlays app.
2. With the app launched, you will need a pairing code to link the telemetry to your Sim Racing Setups account. Click the “Get a pairing code” button.
   
3. This will take you directly to our dashboard, where you’ll see a box titled “Overlay App”. Click the “Generate Pairing Code” button to get your unique code. Copy this into the pairing code box in our overlay app and your account will be linked.
   
4. Linking your account will automatically populate your UDP port so you don’t need to change any telemetry settings in your F1 26 game.
   • Important: If you have previously used our telemetry app, you will need to change your F1 telemetry settings in-game to match the ones shown in the overlay app.
     
5. At this point, you can start driving in F1 26 and your data will be saved to the telemetry platform for later analysis. However, there is a lot more customisation you can do within the app, including setting up the overlays.

Customising overlays and creating a custom layout

With the bulk of the set up process complete, you can now start choosing which overlays you wish to use, and customising them.

From the main dashboard in the overlays app, you can access all overlays from the sidebar navigation link, or by clicking the box titled “In-Game Overlays“

In the overlays screen, you can scroll up and down to view each overlay with a short description of what it does. You can enable or disable any of the inputs. Enabling the inputs will show it on screen immediately.

Clicking the settings gear icon next to any input will show the settings for that specific overlay. In here you can customise various elements such as how the overlay looks and what information is shown.

At any point, you can click the green “Confirm settings” button in the bottom right of the dashboard to minimise the dashboard and start racing in F1 26.

To show the dashboard again if it is hidden, you can do any of the following;

• Open it from the windows taskbar.
• Click the gear icon on any overlay and select either the open dashboard link or the individual overlay settings link.

How to edit overlay layout

Moving the overlays and changing their size requires you to enter the “Edit overlay” mode. This can be accessed at any time by selecting the “Edit layout” button from the overlays screen in the dashboard, or by clicking the gear in the top right of any overlay, and selecting “Edit layout“.

In this edit mode, you can drag any of the overlays around the screen. You can also resize any overlay by dragging any side of the individual overlay.

With all overlays repositioned, you can exit the edit mode by selecting the green tick in the corner of any overlay, or clicking “Save Layout” in the dashboard.

How to create and save multiple custom layouts and designs

After repositioning each overlay into the perfect spot, you may want to save your current overlay layout. This can be helpful for a few reasons. You may want different layouts for different sessions. For example, you may not want some overlays during a race, but they are very helpful during qualifying sessions.

This is easy to achieve by creating multiple custom layouts.

With all of your layouts positioned correctly, click the “Save/Load Layout” button, which can be found in the configure overlays screen. This will pop out a module that lets you save your layout and give it a custom name.

You can also quickly load any layout from this screen, rename existing layouts, or resave layouts if you have made certain tweaks.

Setting up hotkeys

One helpful feature is the ability to assign hotkeys that quickly perform various tasks. Currently, you can assign hotkeys to hide or show the overlays and hide or show the dashboard. Assigning hotkeys can be performed from the settings menu, and lets you choose any custom key macro for each behaviour.
