How To Compare Laps In Our F1 Telemetry

One key feature of our Sim Racing Setups F1 Telemetry platform, is the ability to compare your laps against Pro drivers and others. This feature is incredibly important as it lets you compare your own inputs and racing line against faster drivers. Analysing your laps against others really helps identify where you could gain lap time.

Follow the guide below to learn how to start comparing your own laps against others.

Step 1: Start by analysing your own lap

To begin, you will want to load up a lap you have completed to start analysing and comparing it. Your laps can be found in your sessions list. Simply click any session, then select the lap you wish to compare. This will take you to our lap telemetry page.

Step 2: Choose a comparison lap

In the lap telemetry page, there are a few ways to choose a comparison lap.

• From the sidebar leaderboard: In the left sidebar, you will see the top 10 leaderboard. Hover over our Pro drivers laptime and click “Compare” to add the pro lap as a comparison.
• From the compare module: We also have a dedicated “Compare Lap” button in the sidebar. Selecting this will pop up a comparison module. In this box, you can filter laps by the leaderboard, view all of your best laps, or view just Pro laps. Select the Pro laps tab, and then choose the pro lap to compare.

Using either of these methods will load a comparison lap, allowing you to start comparing it directly against your own lap.

Step 3: Analysing your lap against the comparison lap

With two laps loaded, your own lap and the comparison lap, you can delve into any area of our F1 telemetry to start comparing. In every aspect of the lap telemetry page, you will now see direct comparisons between your own lap and the comparison lap.

Comparing inputs

In the throttle, brake, steering charts and all other charts, you’ll see your own inputs overlaid with the comparison inputs. This quickly lets you compare and see where faster drivers are accelerating, braking or steering differently to you.

Comparing racing line

With a comparison lap loaded, the racing line will change. It will now show two racing lines. Your own racing line will still be green, yellow, and red, showing your braking and throttle inputs. The comparison laps racing line will be dashed.

You can zoom into any corner to see in more detail how the comparison lap differs from your racing line, and you can playback the two laps to see the racing line positioning in real-time.

Adding a comparison lap also then shows input markers and delta comparison times. Both laps will show markers where each driver starts braking, reaches their minimum speed, and then reaches 100% throttle.

Delta times will also appear at every corner sequence in red or green. They will show how much time is gained or lost at each part of the lap.

Comparing lap delta

A new delta chart appears when comparing two laps. This new chart shows the entire lap with a time delta charted across it. This visually shows where in a lap you are faster or slower than the comparison lap. When the chart goes above the center line, it means the comparison lap is faster than you, and when it dips below the line it means you are faster than the comparison.

Below the chart, you will see specific delta times for each mini sector. This can highlight key areas where you are faster or slower than the reference driver.

You can zoom into this chart, just like all other telemetry charts to analyse specific parts of the lap in much more detail.

Using AI coaching to highlight differences between your lap and the comparison lap

Our AI coaching insights will read both your own lap and any comparison lap you choose. It will then analyse your lap against the comparison lap, providing unique insights to where you are faster or slower than the comparison lap. These insights change depending on which lap you select as the comparison.
