Lusail is a wide, flowing circuit that rewards confidence and smooth inputs above everything else. To be fast at the Qatar Grand Prix in F1 26, run a medium downforce car setup with a low ride height, slightly stiffer suspension, and strong braking performance for the heavy stops at Turns 1, 7, and 11. Front tyre management is the key variable across a full race distance.
Why Qatar Is One of the Most Demanding Tracks on Tyres in F1 26
The Lusail International Circuit looks approachable at first glance. It is wide, smooth, and features flowing corner sequences that feel natural to drive.
But Qatar punishes overdriving more than almost any other circuit in the F1 2026 Season Pack. The long right-hand corners load the front-left tyre relentlessly. Aggressive steering inputs build heat fast. By the end of a stint, a poorly managed front-left can cost you several tenths per lap.

Sector 1: Turns 1 to 6
Turn 1 opens the lap with a significant braking zone. Brake at the 100m board and take a late apex. Do not over-slow the car here. You need to carry momentum into the sequence that follows.
Turns 2 and 3 are a quick directional change. Turn 2 is flat. Position the car carefully through here to set up the approach to Turn 3. Depending on your car balance, Turn 3 needs either a small lift or a light brake tap.
Turns 4, 5 and 6 are fast left-right-left sweepers. Stay as flat as possible through this section. Precision with your steering inputs and a well-balanced car will help you carry the speed you need into Sector 2.
Sector 2: Turns 7 to 10
Turn 7 is a heavy braking zone. Brake hard and late. The focus immediately shifts to exit speed because this corner feeds into a fast medium-speed sequence.
Turns 8, 9 and 10 are flowing and quick. Minimal braking is needed through here. A lift or a light tap is usually enough. Keep the car balanced and resist the urge to overdrive. Pushing too hard through this sequence costs you more than it gains.
Sector 3: Turns 11 to 16
Turn 11 is a significant hairpin and another heavy braking point. Trail brake into the apex and avoid running wide on exit. A clean run out of here leads into the fastest part of the lap.
Turns 12, 13 and 14 are a series of fast right-handers. This is one of the quickest sections on the circuit. The target is flat-out, but be ready to modulate if you feel understeer building. Use the full track width and keep your inputs as smooth as possible.
Turn 15 is a momentum corner. A slight lift may be needed depending on your car balance through the preceding sequence.
Turn 16 is the final corner and one of the most important on the lap. Brake late but do not over-slow the car. Get on the throttle as early as possible. This corner feeds directly onto the long main straight and the DRS zone. A poor exit here is punishing.
