F1 24 Losail International Circuit Track Guide
Qatar is relatively new for Formula 1, having been used as a temporary addition a few years ago. It returned full time to the calendar last year, and immediately became one of the most enjoyable tracks in F1 24.
The Losail circuit’s track layout is incredibly enjoyable to drive, thanks to the mixture of corner types and lack of slower-speed turns. Many of the corners are medium-speed, and due to the wide track and large runoff zones, there are plenty of opportunities for overtaking.
Losail is a circuit in which drivers can run multiple lines through some corners, providing some good on-track action. The track itself is incredibly flat with barely any elevation change or bumps in the track surface. This allows us to be more aggressive with our car setup in various places.
What makes a good Qatar car setup?
With so many corner sequences and on a relatively short straight, a higher aerodynamic car setup is the best option in F1 24. You can increase both front and rear wing aero while keeping an offset of around 5 points between the front and rear.
A more front-focused aerodynamic setup will give you a car which is willing to turn into corners without too much understeer. This is important through the longer corners around Losail.
Due to the flat nature of the Qatar track in F1 24, we can really push the limitations of the suspension and suspension geometry. I recommend setting the geometry up as though you were creating a time trial setup. This works well at this track style, giving you the potential for the best lap times.
I would also recommend increasing the suspension stiffness to almost its maximum to ensure your car is incredibly responsive. The rear of the car should remain stable due to the track design so that we can optimise the front end grip in our car setup.
If tyre wear does become a problem throughout a race distance in F1 24, you can lower the tyre pressures to combat this. There aren’t too many areas where wheel spin is an issue, so you can keep your rear tyre pressures higher than at some tracks.
Is this approach a time trial car setup?
Qatar is a track where an aggressive car setup can work well. You can even use a time trial car setup for a race distance due to our race and time trial setup similarities. The main change I would make from a time trial setup is to lower the tyre pressures to help with tyre wear during a race.
Recommended race strategy for Qatar
Qatar is a very front-limited track due to the sweeping medium-speed corners. This means that the front tyres will take the most punishment and wear faster than the rear tyres. This can also lead to a lot of pit stops.
Depending on your tyre wear, you can perform two or three pit stops. I recommend using medium and hard tyres, as the soft tyres aren’t very durable around Qatar.
Can I use a time trial car setup for a Qatar race?
Qatar is one circuit in F1 24 where you can be very aggressive with the car setup. This leads to an almost time trial-style car setup with aggressive suspension and suspension geometry. It is one of the few tracks where a time trial setup works well during a long race.
Is Qatar a day or night race?
Qatar is a night race due to the high daytime temperatures. This is reflected in F1 24, with the track being lit up by floodlights, much like Bahrain and Singapore.
