Simucube is a brand known for producing some of the very best hardware within sim racing. Its range of wheel bases in particular are often seen as the best high-end direct drive wheels you can buy.

In this guide, I’m going to explore the compatibility of Simucube products. I’ll look at how they are compatible with other brands and what products you can use with a Simucube wheel base. I’ll also show you if Simucube wheels are console compatible.

Do all Simucube products work together?

Simucube currently sell all three parts that make up an entire sim racing setup, the wheel base, steering wheel and pedals. The great news is that all products that Simucube sell are compatible with one another.

Simucube does have a few quirks when it comes to compatibility. If for example, you attached the Simucube Valo GT-23 steering wheel to any Simucube wheel base, you would find that out-of-the-box, it doesn’t work as expected. By default the rev and flag lights wouldn’t work.

This is an official Simucube branded steering wheel and wheel base, yet, they don’t work together right away. This is where the Simucube Link comes in.

The Link hub is an additional accessory that connects to your Simucube products to your PC. It can be used to tidy up the cabling and have just a single USB cable going into your PC, however, some products do require it.

Which Simucube products require the Link hub?

The Simucube Link is included by default with the ActivePedal as it is required for it to work. It is also needed to use the rev lights on the Valo GT-23 steering wheel.

Simucube are making the Link a requirement to use all products produced after 2024. Currently the Simucube 2 wheel bases don’t need a link hub to work.

Simucube product lineup

Simucube has grown its sim racing ecosystem throughout the past year, and this has resulted in Simucube now having a range of wheel bases, multiple steering wheels and a pedal set.

Simucube 2 Sport vs Pro vs Ultimate

Simucube currently sell three different wheel bases. All three wheels use direct drive technology and are among the best high-end wheels you can buy.

The Sport is the cheapest model with 17Nm of peak torque and costing €1233 / $1199. The Pro is the most popular of the three and sits in a sweet spot of price and performance. At the top of the lineup is the Ultimate which offers incredible performance but at a very high price point.

Tahko vs Valo steering wheels

Currently, Simucube has two different steering wheel models, with each wheel having multiple versions available. The Tahko GT-21 steering wheel was the first that Simucube released in 2021 and costs from $819.

This is a premium steering wheel that is available in a couple of different colours, orange or black. You can also choose between a couple of different rim styles with there being two shapes, circular or D-shaped, and two finishes, leather or suede.

The Simucube Valo GT-23 was the second steering wheel the Finnish company released costing $899 or $999 depending on version. It comes in a single shape and has two hand grip materials: leather or Alcantara.

The two wheels are relatively similar, offering similar levels of inputs. The Valo GT-23 offers slightly more control due to its additional encoders and dual clutch paddles.

    Is Simucube compatible with Xbox?

Unfortunately, Simucube products do not work with Xbox consoles. This includes the current generation Xbox Series S|X consoles.

    Is Simucube compatible with PS5?

Much like Xbox, Simucube is not compatible with any PlayStation console including PS4 and PS5. Simucube products are only compatible with PC.

Which steering wheels work with Simucube?

Simucube has great compatibility with third-party steering wheels. Any steering wheel that can be mounted with a 50.4mm or 70mm bolt pattern will be compatible with the Simucube 2 wheel bases.

Simucube sells a quick release wheel side adapter that can be attached to any steering wheel using the above bolt pattern. As long as this SQR hub can be mounted to your steering wheel, it can be attached to and used with a Simucube wheel base.

Simucube wheel bases can be used with wireless antenna allowing some wireless steering wheels such as those from Cube Controls to be connected directly to your wheel base. This lets you adjust certain settings for your steering wheel within the Simucube True Drive software.

    • All USB-based steering wheels will be compatible with Simucube wheel bases
    • All wireless steering wheels that connect directly to the PC will be compatible
    • All Simucube branded steering wheels are comaptible

Are MOZA products compatible with Simucube?

MOZA Racing steering wheels will work with a Simucube wheel base. You would need to purchase the MOZA Universal Hub to mount your steering wheel to the Simucube SQR hub. And the hub will also be required so you can connect your steering wheel to your PC via a USB cable.

Using MOZA Racing pedals with a Simucube wheel base is possible as MOZA pedals can be directly connected to your PC. This will bypass any compatibility issues and the pedals and racing wheel will be seen as separate devices on your PC.

Are Fanatec products compatible with Simucube?

Fanatec and Simucube compatibility is a little trickier. Currently, it is impossible to use a Fanatec steering wheel with any wheel base other than those sold by Fanatec. You cannot connect a Fanatec steering wheel to your PC directly, instead, you need the connection to a Fanatec wheel base for the steering wheel to function.

You could mount a Fanatec steering wheel to a Simucube wheel base, however, none of the inputs or electronics on the wheel would work.

    Overview

Simucube originally relied on third-party steering wheels and pedals when it only sold wheel bases. This means that all Simucube products have compatibility with third-party brands baked in. You can use almost any branded steering wheel or pedal set with a Simucube wheel base, other than a few notable exceptions such as Fanatec.
