SIMAGIC is often seen as one of the leaders in offering great value for money within sim racing. Their wheel bases, steering wheels and pedals all promise high performance at a reasonable price tag. Back in 2023, SIMAGIC released their Alpha Evo wheel base lineup, evolving the older Alpha wheels.
Now, in 2026, with both Alpha and Alpha Evo wheel bases to choose from, it can be tough to make a decision on which SIMAGIC wheel base to buy.
I’m going to compare every SIMAGIC wheel base, across both product ranges, to recommend the best overall wheel base in a variety of different price ranges.
Both of SIMAGIC’s wheel base ranges feature exclusively direct drive wheels. The older Alpha lineup consists of the Alpha Mini (10Nm), Alpha (15Nm) and Alpha Ultimate (23Nm). These three wheels launched in and around 2021, and represented some of the best value direct drive wheels at that time.
Since then, SIMAGIC has modernised its product lineup and now includes the Alpha Evo range. Much like the Alpha before it, the Alpha Evo features a range of direct drive wheels at different power outputs and prices.
The Alpha Evo Sport produces 9Nm of peak torque. The Alpha Evo produces 12Nm, while the Alpha Evo Pro produces 18Nm. There is also a range topping Alpha Evo Ultra which we recently reviewed. This produces an insane 28Nm of peak torque.
The Alpha Evo wheel base range introduced a good number of improvements and upgrades over the older Alpha wheels. One of the biggest improvements is in the zero cogging technology found in the Evo lineup.
This essentially reduces and eliminates the cogging effect that can be noticed when turning your wheel. You can think of cogging as the feeling of a wheel almost jumping from one position to another. This has been present on most wheel bases for years, and is felt primarily during low force feedback moments.

With the Alpha Evo wheel, this feeling is gone, with the wheel now feeling incredibly smooth throughout its entire rotation. Just this improvement alone helps the Alpha Evo feel steps above the older Alpha lineup.
SIMAGIC has also introduced an ultra-low inertia servo motor at the heart of the new Evo racing wheel. This results in a lighter overall weight for the wheel base, along with much sharper and smoother force feedback.
This generation of racing wheel bases has seen many brands improve on the force feedback algorithms used. Brands such as Fanatec and Simucube have introduced rumble effects, similar to how Logitech uses TRUEFORCE.
--- Article continues below --- Shop Sim Racing DiscountsSIMAGIC has coined their latest algorithm the Dynamic Force Domain Filter Algorithm (DFDF). This latest force feedback technology really helps optimise the performance from the direct drive servo motor, providing extra fidelity to the whole sim racing experience.
Every sim racer approaches upgrading their sim racing setup differently, and one of the key differences is budget. Wherever your budget falls, whether you’re shopping for a high-end direct drive wheel, or the best budget racing wheel. You want to maximise your money.

In this recommendation list, you’ll find all spots dominated by the newer Alpha Evo wheels. This is primarily due to the vastly improved technology, as well as the price remaining competitive.
| Wheel | Price | Pros | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | Alpha Evo Sport | $399 | – Superb entry-level wheel |
| Mid-Range | Alpha Evo Pro | $699 | – Next generation FFB – Console compatible |
| Premium | Alpha Evo Ultra | $969 | – Most powerful wheel – 25Nm peak torque |

| Brand | SIMAGIC |
| FFB | 18Nm of peak torque |
| Price | $699 |
| Where to buy | Buy from SIMAGIC |
My recommendation for the best overall SIMAGIC wheel base has to be the Alpha Evo Pro. All wheels in the newer Alpha Evo range are extremely capable, but the Pro version really bridges the gap between performance and value. and this is where SIMAGIC shine.
The Pro wheel is capable of outputting 18Nm of peak torque, which is more than many sim racers will ever need. In fact, I run most of my wheels at around 10-15Nm of peak torque! And costing just 9, the Alpha Evo Pro represents better value to performance than most competitors.
When we do look at other sim racing brands, you can start to see how good the value that SIMAGIC offers is. For example, to get 18Nm of peak torque with a Fanatec wheel base, you’ll be looking at the ClubSport DD+ which costs $899.99.
Yes, the Alpha Evo Ultra does offer more extreme performance. However, the cost increase to around $1000, can be off putting to many sim racers.
SIMAGIC’s original wheel bases were the Alpha range. These were ahead of their time, being entirely direct drive across the whole lineup, even when brands were still releasing gear or belt driven racing wheels.
For this reason, the original Alpha lineup can still be a solid option, even though we now have the Alpha Evo wheels. You can still purchase the Alpha wheel bases from SIMAGIC directly, however, we wouldn’t recommend this for one simple reason. That is that the Alpha Evo wheels are cheaper to buy than the older wheels.

For example, the original SIMAGIC Alpha wheel produces 15Nm of peak torque and costs $649. That is for a 5 year old wheel base. In comparison, you could opt for the much newer Alpha Evo Pro. This wheel would provide 18Nm of peak torque, and all of the improvements that I mentioned earlier. And it will cost you $699.
That is a $50 increase in price, for more peak force feedback strength, and much more refined overall feedback.
For this reason, I wouldn’t recommend buying the original Alpha wheels from SIMAGIC directly. The only reason I’d recommend picking up one of the older wheel bases is if you can find them on a sale from a reseller.
Being a previous generation product, many third-party resellers are offering discounts on the older stock. And this could be a good opportunity to buy a still very capable sim racing wheel, at a great price.
Yes, SIMAGIC are one of the leading sim racing brands, producing excellent quality products at incredibly competitive prices.
Yes, we have an exclusive 3% discount code that can be used on SIMAGIC’s website. Use the code SIMRACINGSETUP to reduce any order by 3%.
At 9Nm, the Alpha Evo Sport offers a great entry level direct drive experience. 9Nm is still incredibly powerful compared to other budget options, but can limit your headroom to extract the optimal amount of force feedback torque.
