Things can get pretty in-depth the moment you start spec’ing or planning your dream sim racing rig setup. Prices for a lot of sim racing hardware can be high, and figuring out compatibility between different brands can cause a headache.
However, planning and configuring your dream sim racing setup, or your next upgrades does not have to be hard work. By using a sim racing configurator tool, you can automatically compare prices from different brands and see which products work together, and even if any quick release hubs or converters are needed to ensure compatibility.
Today, I’m going to run through the best sim racing configurator tools and apps, and show you how to plan your next sim racing rig build, without having to check every brands website and price list.
For years, PC builders have used tools like PC Parts Picker to plan their next PC build. A sim racing configurator is a tool just like this, but for sim racing hardware instead.
Just a few years ago, builders and apps like this did not exist for sim racing. This meant that any sim racer would have to spend a fair bit of time researching compatibility between brands, or checking that their wheel base could be mounted to a sim rig.
Now, sim rig builders and configurators take away a lot of this research by showing you exactly which hardware is compatible with one another.
A sim rig builder or sim racing configurator gives you a platform to add various different sim racing components to a single build. It will show you whether they are all compatible with one another and the total cost price to purchase all items. Good sim racing builders will also provide links to the retailer with the best price for each item.

As mentioned just now, the perks of using a configurator app or tool are really the convenience and time saving elements.
Using any sim rig configurator or builder tool is a fairly straight forward process. Much like PC Part Picker which I mentioned earlier, a good builder tool will guide you through the process of building your dream sim racing setup.
--- Article continues below --- Shop Sim Racing DiscountsOur tool, which can be found on our sim rig builder page, lets you easily add and remove any sim racing product to your build. It will then show you any compatibility problems that you might face such as wheel bases not working with steering wheels, or mounting problems.
Below is a quick video showing how easy it is to build a sim racing setup using our configurator. You will see how the tool shows you potential compatibility issues, along with recommended fixes. And also how it shows the best price and discount codes for each item.
While we have our own configurator tool, which is powered by ReadySetSim, there are a wide variety of other tools available. Below are a few of the better tools that we’d recommend trying.
As mentioned, our own sim rig builder tool is a feature-packed configurator, that makes comparing products from different brands a breeze. It is fully integrated with all major brands within sim racing, meaning you can build your dream setup with a wide variety of brands, all from a single tool.
Not only can you access all sim racing brands products and add them to your dream build, once done, our tool will show you the best prices for each product across a wide variety of retailers. You’ll also be shown any active discount codes that let you save that little bit extra!
Our own tool lets you add thousands of products from different brands. But if you are focusing on building your dream setup using only a single brand’s hardware, then brands like Fanatec have you covered.
The German sim racing giant has introduced its own configurator in 2026, letting you design your perfect Fanatec setup. The downside of this tool is that you can onl;y add Fanatec hardware, however, it has a gorgeous design, letting you visualise your entire build thanks to 3D models.

You can also check compatibility between products and consoles, to ensure your dream Xbox setup, will actually work on your console!
Much like Fanatec, Logitech also have their own configurator. This works in a very similar way to the Fanatec builder, restricting you to only Logitech hardware.
In practice, this is less than ideal as Logitech does have one of the smaller ranges of sim racing hardware. This means, while you can mix and match and check console compatibility. You don’t have much choice over which hardware you can add to your build.

One area where the Logitech sim racing builder does shine though is with its graphics. Logitech has fully intractable 3D model. This lets you spin and rotate your build to see exactly how it will look from all angles.
Using any of the recommended configurator tools above does come with its own pros and cons. Below is a quick summary of which of these sim racing builders is best and why.

The beauty of any of the sim racing configurators I have featured in this guide is, that they are all free to use. This means there is no harm in trying them. If you are planning a complete sim racing build, or just want to check if certain products are compatible with one another, then a configurator tool is a great route to take.
One of the key features of our Sim Racing Setup Builder is the ability to highlight the compatibility between different brands. Simply add different products to your build, and our configurator will tell you if they are compatible or not, and which adapters are needed.
