While you certainly can use your Logitech G923 with an Xbox or PS5 without installing G Hub and updating the firmware of your wheel. It is recommended that you do connect your racing wheel to a PC periodically to see if new firmware has been released. Firmware updates can fix issues and make your wheel perform better, so its always worth checking, even if racing on a console.
Setting up a new racing wheel can sometimes be trickier than it should be. However, with the popular Logitech G923 racing wheel, the setup process leans more towards the easier side in comparison with other racing wheels.
If you’re using your Logitech G923 racing wheel with an Xbox or PS5 console, the setup is incredibly simple. There are some extra steps that you can take to ensure your wheel is configured to perform at its best.
In this guide, I’ll run through the entire setup process including firmware updates, calibration, and wheel settings for the Logitech G923. This guide can also be applied to both the Logitech G29 and G920 as well.
This process can be used when setting up your Logitech G923 with games such as Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport and more.

Before I jump into each part of the setup process in too much detail, I first want to give you a quick step-by-step overview of how to set up your Logitech racing wheel. You can follow these quick steps to get up and running as quickly as possible. If you’d like more information on any of these setup processes, I’ll talk about them in more detail further on in this guide.
The Logitech G923 comes with an in-built table clamp making mounting easy. Ensure the racing wheel is secured to your sim racing cockpit, desk or table so it can’t move when powered on. Then, connect the power cable and the USB cable to your PC, Xbox or PS5.
Next, download G Hub from Logitech’s website and follow the installation process. You don’t need to do this step if racing on an Xbox or PS5.
With G Hub installed, you should see an image of your Logitech wheel in G Hub. Click on the wheel and you’ll find a range of settings you can change. If you navigate to the settings tab, you will see if a firmware update is available. If it is, click “update” to automatically update the Logitech wheel’s firmware.
Next up, all that is left to do is adjust any settings in G Hub and then go sim racing.
Before I do jump into the detailed setup process of a Logitech racing wheel, I want to touch on the three options you have when buying an entry-level Logitech wheel. Logitech released the G29 racing wheel as a successor to the much-loved G27 wheel. This wheel is both PC and PlayStation compatible. For Xbox racers, Logitech released the G920 at the same time. This wheel is only compatible with Xbox consoles and PC.
More recently, Logitech released an evolution to the G29 and G920 called the G923. This racing wheel comes in two versions, one for each console with both versions being compatible with PC. The Logitech G923 introduced new force feedback technology and a feature called TrueForce. It also revised the brake pedal making the G923 a much better all-round racing wheel.

The first part of the Logitech G923 setup is to install G Hub. This is Logitech’s software that is designed to allow you to update all of their gaming peripherals and make changes to various settings.
You can download G Hub from Logitech’s website, or you can follow this link. Simply choose the correct version that you wish to download, either for Windows or for MAC OS. Once downloaded follow the instructions to continue the install.
Once it has been installed, you can start G Hub. If your racing wheel is connected, you should see an image of it in the main G Hub dashboard. You can click on the image of your racing wheel to be presented with a range of settings that you can change. This process is the same no matter whether you’re setting up a G923, G29 or G920.
If you’re racing with your Logitech G923, G29 or G920 on an Xbox or PlayStation console, you don’t need to download G Hub to your PC or make any adjustments to your racing wheel. However, it can be beneficial to do so.
New firmware can become available over time, and updating your wheel can fix some bugs or make it perform a little better. Even if you do intend to race on a console, I’d recommend connecting your racing wheel to a PC and installing G Hub just to ensure it is up to date. You can also do this periodically as well just to ensure you have the latest firmware on your Logitech G923.
The next step after installing G Hub is to see if your racing wheel needs a firmware update. These updates can fix any bugs or issues a wheel may be having or they can sometimes improve performance and make your wheel run better. It’s certainly always worth checking to ensure your racing wheel is using the most up-to-date firmware.
You can check the firmware of a Logitech racing wheel by navigating to the settings in G Hub. Here you can see your racing wheel’s firmware version and if an update is available.
If there is a newer firmware version available, you’ll see a button that says “update”. Click this and your racing wheel will automatically download and update to the latest firmware. Once this process is done, you can continue on to adjusting your force feedback settings in G Hub, or start up a game to start sim racing.
There is no manual calibration process with any Logitech racing wheel including the G923, G29 and G920. Instead, when you first power on your wheel, it will run through an automatic calibration sequence.
When powering on your Logitech wheel, ensure you aren’t holding it as it will start to rotate. The wheel will rotate completely to one side, then the other before returning to its center position. Once the wheel is at its center position and has stopped moving it has completed calibration and can then be used.
There are a range of wheel settings that can be changed directly in G Hub. These can affect your steering lock, force feedback strength and how TrueForce reacts in game. The default settings are fine for most racing titles and can sometimes be left completely alone.
You may however wish to change some settings to increase or decrease the overall strength of your Logitech racing wheel. If you do make any changes to the G Hub settings, you can save them to a specific profile. This lets you quickly load different preset settings for different games.
The settings will also be saved to your wheel, meaning that if you race on an Xbox or PS5 console, the settings that you change will be in effect when you reconnect your wheel to your console.
The Logitech G923 is one of the best-selling entry-level racing wheels for a few reasons. It’s well-priced, has good build quality and performance, and is compatible with almost every single racing title on the market. These include Assetto Corsa Competizione on Xbox, PS5 and PC, iRacing on PC, Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo just to name a few.
When racing in each of these games, your Logitech wheel will benefit from using different game-specific wheel settings. Every racing title handles force feedback in a different way meaning your wheel settings for Assetto Corsa may be completely different to the settings you use in F1 23.
