GT Omega already has a good lineup of complete sim racing cockpits, sim rigs, and wheel stands across various prices. The newest cockpit that GT Omega has just announced is the Hybrid cockpit, which is positioned in a spot that GT Omega didn’t cover with its other products.

What is the GT Omega Hybrid cockpit?

GT Omega sim rigs include 8020 aluminium profile rigs, the PRIME and PRIME Lite, and all-in-one tubular cockpits, the ART and TITAN. These cover a good range of buyers with the ART and TITAN being cheaper sim racing cockpits and the PRIME sitting as the brand’s most premium and sturdy 8020 sim rig.

However, despite these cockpits coming with adjustable wheel, pedal and seat mounts, none of these four cockpits offer enough range of adjustment to allow for true Formula or GT driving positions. To achieve this, you previously had to purchase additional accessories such as the Formula pedal tray designed for a larger range of adjustability.

This is where the new Hybrid cockpit is positioned. It’s designed to be an incredibly adjustable sim rig right out of the box without the reliance on additional accessories.

Price of the GT Omega Hybrid cockpit

The GT Omega Hybrid sits in the product lineup between the PRIME and PRIME Lite. It isn’t quite as premium as the PRIME cockpit as it doesn’t use the same thick extrusion as the PRIME so won’t be quite as sturdy.

What makes the Hybrid sim rig different?

The Hybrid cockpit looks to offer a few things that can’t be found on other GT Omega cockpits. It is an aluminium profile sim rig, using 80x40mm strips of aluminium profile, similar to the GT OMEGA PRIME Lite. However, it is the first GT Omega cockpit to feature a slanted upright, bringing the racing wheel closer to your body whilst allowing more room to slide in and out of the seat.

The two really big selling points of the Hybrid cockpit are the wide range of adjustability for both the seat and pedal mounts. There is a much larger range of movement and mounting positions for the pedals and racing seat, which opens up all new seating positions while sim racing.

GT Omega Hybrid cockpit specifications

Included is the excellent formula and GT racing seat mount, which I have mounted to my own GT Omega PRIME cockpit. This allows the racing seat to easily be adjusted between a GT and F1 seating position without the need for any tools. The amount of lean possible with the seat mount is more than with any other GT Omega cockpit.

You also get the choice between two pedal mounts when buying a Hybrid cockpit. The standard hybrid pedal mount offers a wide range of GT and F1 mounting positions, and much like the seat mount can be adjusted without any tools.

If you think you’ll be racing Formula 1 cars more often, you can opt for the Formula pedal mount which gives even more height adjustment with the pedal position.
