GRID Legends is the latest game to the GRID franchise and is looking to bring story elements to spice up the single-player campaign. Codemasters are introducing live-action cutscenes to the story mode much like Need For Speed once did. But going away from the story mode of GRID Legends, the success of this latest GRID game will rely heavily on how good the driving physics are and how good the racing is.
While the GRID games do tend to lean more towards the arcade side of racing, Codemasters do still have racing wheel support in the game. So if you are a bit of a sim-head, and like to race with a racing wheel rather than a controller, you can still do that in GRID Legends.
In this guide, I’ll show you all of the steering wheels which are compatible with GRID Legends.
Below, I have listed out all of the steering wheels that should be compatible with GRID Legends on launch.
There is a huge caveat, and that is that Codemasters hasn’t confirmed that any wheel will be compatible.
While we know GRID Legends will have support for racing wheels, we don’t know which racing wheels will be supported, and if any aren’t. What we can do though is look at the previous GRID game to see which racing wheels were supported. This will give us a good indication of which racing wheels will be compatible with GRID Legends.
Codemasters generally do a pretty good job with wheel compatibility. The list of F1 2021 compatible steering wheels for example is huge, and so is the list for the most recent GRID game from 2019.
The list of steering wheels below includes every racing wheel that we think will be compatible with GRID Legends. Once Codemasters release an official list, we will update this article.
The majority of the steering wheels below were compatible with the most recent GRID game in 2019, so should be compatible with GRID Legends on PC.
I have included new wheel releases such as the Fanatec CSL DD, Fanatec GT DD Pro, Logitech G923 and Thrustmaster T248 which should all be compatible at launch. Just to re-iterate, these wheels have not yet been confirmed to be compatible by Codemasters.
Fanatec compatibility for GRID Legends is pretty wide but does depend on the console or platform you are racing on. Certain wheel bases from Fanatec are only supported on PlayStation consoles, and some will only work on Xbox consoles. All Fanatec wheel bases are PC compatible.
Below I’ve listed the current wheel bases that Fanatec sells (I’ve left out discontinued products, although have listed them in the complete list above).
Out of all the wheel bases above, the CSL DD and GT DD Pro are the entry level offerings from Fanatec. While I say entry level, these certainly aren’t budget wheel bases. Both the CSL DD and GT DD Pro have direct drive technology and both perform extremely well.
The Podium range, the F1, DD1 and DD2 are Fanatec’s premium offering. These wheel bases cost much more than the CSL DD and GT DD Pro but offer much higher levels of performance.
While none of these wheel bases have officially been confirmed as compatible with GRID Legends, all of them are widely supported. They are compatible with the previous 2019 GRID game so should work without issue with GRID Legends.
Below is the current range of Thrustmaster wheels that are available to buy. Again, I have left out previous generation wheel bases which are no longer available to buy.
Thrustmaster has a wide range of racing wheels available for all consoles. These range from budget options such as the TMX and T150, to more premium racing wheels such as the TS-XW.
The most recent addition to Thrustmaster’s product lineup is the T248. This is a mid-priced racing wheel that incorporates some nice tech such as a screen on the wheel itself. Currently, the T248 is only a PS4 / PS5 and PC compatible wheel, but there is an Xbox compatible version in the works.
Logitech only offers one racing wheel to buy currently, the G923, although it does come in two formats, one for Xbox owners and one for PlayStation owners.
Both versions of the G923 are almost identical, and both perform the same. The G923 is an outstanding low-cost racing wheel and is compatible with almost every racing game. This means that we don’t believe GRID Legends will be any different, and this wheel should work fine.
GRID Legends looks to be extremely fun when it arrives. And that fun will only be increased by racing with a racing wheel. Physical steering wheels offer a level of immersion that racing with a controller lacks.
But when it comes to picking the best racing wheels for a particular game, it can become tricky with all the different wheels available.
I would recommend reading our in-depth buyers guide for the best racing wheels for GRID Legends. This guide will run through the best racing wheels for a wide variety of budgets. From entry-level racing wheels through to more high-end wheels.
This guide should help you narrow down which racing wheel is best for GRID Legends.
GRID Legends looks to fall into the sim-cade style of racing game, combining sim racing elements with slightly more accessible arcade-like physics.
This style of racing game can be fun to race with a controller or a wheel. And yes, racing wheels will be compatible with GRID Legends!
The above list covers the most popular racing wheels that are currently available to buy. And while it hasn’t been confirmed exactly which steering wheels will be compatible with GRID Legends when it arrives. It is very likely that almost all of the popular steering wheels above will be compatible.

The msot recent GRID games have all been compatible with steering wheels. GRID Legends should also be compatible with the majority of sim racing wheels.
GRID Legends will be comaptible with a range of Thrustmaster racing wheels, as well as steering wheels from Logitech and Fanatec.
GRID embraces a middle ground between sim racing and arcade racing. When racing with a racing wheel and all assists turned off or set to simulation, GRID does offer a decent sim racing experience.
