Fanatec have been on fire recently with endless product releases. Not that we’re complaining at all (Although our bank account is feeling the pain!)
The latest announcement from Fanatec comes in the form of two upgraded products. The ClubSport Universal Hub V2 and the ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.5.
Starting with the Universal Hub, the upgrade brings a host of features and two variations of the product itself. The new and improved ClubSport Universal Hub V2 is available in its standard form and a specific Xbox version.
Below are the links to each product so you can check them out yourselves.

So what exactly has been upgraded you ask? Fanatec state that their are revised electronics inside both Universal Hubs, and they have also added magnetic shifters as standard along with an upgradable quick-release.
We can’t comment too much on the revised electronics, but we do know that both hubs are fully compatible with all current Fanatec wheel rims. Plus you can attach any third party wheel rim which features a 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm pattern.
The Xbox specific version of the Universal Hub V2 can connect to all current Fanatec wheel bases, and will add Xbox compatibility to whichever wheel base you connect it to. The Xbox Universal Hub V2 is fully compatible with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The Xbox version of the hub is also compatible with PC. However if you’re a PlayStation sim racer, then you should opt for the standard Universal Hub V2. This version of the hub is compatible with PS4 and PS5 consoles but is dependant on the game compatibility.
These upgraded varients of the Universal Hub come pre-installed with the ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module, which retails for €99.95 when purchased alone.
These shifters offer much crisper shifts with a strong magentic engagement. The strong magnets create one of the most positive shift feelings of many wheels on the market. You also get both small and large paddles included allowing you extra customisation to your wheel setup.
The last update comes in the form of a fully interchangeable quick-release system. Both varients of the Universal Hub V2 feature the ClubSport Quick-Relase Adapter (QR1) which is compatible with all upcoming Fanatec wheels and wheel bases, as well as some existing products such as the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel rim.
By featuring the exchangeable quick release, Fanatec allow these upgraded Universal Hubs to be future ready. We all know the QR2 quick-release is upcoming, and you can upgrade to that seamlessly once released.

The second announcement that Fanatec made, was the release of an upgraded Formula V2 wheel rim. Enter the ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.5.
The older V2 version of this wheel rim is one of the most popular Fanatec have ever sold. It pairs a fantastic formula-style design with an expceptional amount of customisation and functionality.
This upgraded V2.5 features a host of upgrades along with a new colour way which distinguishes this from the older wheel.
This variation of the Formula V2.5 features an all black design with white accents around certain inputs. This allows it to stand apart from older varients of the wheel, and allows the wheel to look extremely clean and crisp.
There is also a difference is handle material compared to the older model. The V2.5 introduces perforated leather grips. This gives this wheel a potential improvement in durability when compared to the Alcantara material which was previously used.
Along with the new perforated leather grip material is the upgraded magnetic shifters. These shifters are the same paddles that feature on the Universal Hub V2 above. They feature all of the same improvements that I mentioned above, and they bring the Formula V2.5 up-to-date with other new Fanatec products.
Overall, these changes bring solid improvements over the out-going Formula V2. And they make the Formula V2.5 the new benchmark in terms of formula-style wheel rims.
