It has been a while since we saw the release of a new Podium product from Fanatec. The Podium DD wheel base bucks this trend and looks set to be the next generation of high-performance Fanatec wheel base.
This direct drive motor can hold a consistent 25Nm of torque, with an overshoot of 33Nm. They are pretty impressive specs. Combine that with a lower than expected price tag and an all-metal build, and this new wheel base starts to look pretty enticing.
Here are all the details about this new wheel base from the German sim racing brand.
The Fanatec Podium DD is the new range-topping direct drive wheel base from the German sim racing giant. It looks incredibly similar to the ClubSport DD and DD+ wheel base. However, it increases the force feedback strength and clarity to be a true flagship wheel base.

What performance does the Podium DD offer? Well, it actually brings quite a nice step up in performance compared to the CS DD+. The peak overshoot torque has increased up to 33Nm, with a holding torque of 25Nm.
--- Article continues below --- Shop Sim Racing DiscountsThis means you will be able to hold a consistent 25Nm of torque through longer corners with much less degradation than before. With an overshoot of 33Nm, you will still be able to experience bumps and kerb strikes while holding this maximum torque, without as much risk of clipping.
Fanatec is boasting the fact that this 33Nm overshoot and 25nm of holding torque allows for a much wider dynamic range. Rather than thinking of 25Nm as an insane amount of torque to run, you can think of the extra dynamic range you’ll get to feel the road details.
With the Podium DD, you can lower your force feedback strength output, and still make the most of this high torque range to prevent clipping. This opens up a lot of smaller details that would often get lost in wheel bases of the past.
Yes, Fanatec is including their FullForce technology in the Podium DD wheel base. This is no surprise as Fanatec went all in on FullForce with the release of the ClubSport DD and DD+ a few years ago.
This technology allows for higher frequency vibrations to be felt through your cockpit, in a similar manner to Logitech’s TrueForce, or MOZA’s own force feedback algorithm.
It allows for a more involved and immersive sim racing experience, and is widely supported by sim racing titles such as iRacing and Assetto Corsa Evo.

| Compatibility | PC & Xbox |
| Motor Technology | Direct Drive |
| Holding Torque | 25Nm |

The new Fanatec Podium DD costs just €1099.95 or $1199.99. That is a relatively small increase over the cost of the ClubSport DD+ wheel base, for a considerable jump in performance.
This price is lower than anticipated, and also includes a shaft extension which is another nice surprise.

If you want more force feedback strength from your wheel base, upgrading to the Podium DD may be worth it. However, if you already own a CS DD+ wheel base, we probably wouldn’t recommend running out and buying a Podium DD right away. The performance increase is nice, but probably not worth the hassle of selling your old Fanatec wheel base.
Fanatec is stating the Podium DD has a max torque of 25Nm. This is a maximum holding torque, and the wheel base does actually have a peak overshoot capability of 33Nm. This means the force feedback can spike up to 33Nm for a short period to prevent clipping and open up a wider force feedback range.
