Fanatec has dropped a brand new sim racing bundle on us out of the blue. This new racing wheel bundle is called the Gran Turismo DD Extreme and features both the ClubSport DD+ wheel base and an upgraded Gran Turismo licensed steering wheel.
In this guide, I’ll look at the complete specifications of this new Fanatec racing wheel, the price and when you can order it.
This new racing wheel bundle carries the very well-known monicer of GT DD, although, there isn’t a GT DD Pro wheel base in site. Instead, Fanatec has utilised a very similar steering wheel design to the wheel rim that launched with the GT DD Pro a few years ago. They have made tweaks to it to improve the overall design and functionality.
This new Gran Turismo licensed steering wheel has been paired with the ClubSport DD+ wheel base. Combined, this new racing wheel bundle produces up to 15Nm of peak torque and is completely PS5 compatible. You also get a complete QR2 quick release as part of this bundle allowing you to interchange the steering wheel if required.
Fanatec has opened up orders on their website for the Gran Turismo DD Extreme across all regions. At the time of writing the US store has this sim racing bundle ready to ship right away, as does the Australian store. The European Fanatec store has it ready to ship in 4-7 days. These shipping estimates will change as people start to place orders.
The price of this bundle is €1299.95 or $1299.95. This represents decent value considering the ClubSport DD+ wheel base alone costs €999.95. This means that for an additional €300 / $300 you are getting the upgraded Gran Turismo licensed steering wheel, plus the complete QR2 quick release adapter.
Below is the exact pricing of the Fanatec GT DD Extreme in all regions.
We can start to put that price into perspective as we compare it to the older GT DD Pro bundle as well as looking at the overall value you get from all of the items that are included in this new bundle. Below is a comparison table of how the new Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Extreme compares to the older and less powerful GT DD Pro bundles.
Racing Wheel | FFB Strength | Price | |
---|---|---|---|
GT DD Extreme Bundle | 15Nm | €1299.95 | |
GT DD Pro Bundle | 5Nm | €699.95 | |
GT DD Pro Bundle | 8Nm | €799.95 | |
As for what is included, you do get slightly less in terms of overall products in this GT DD Extreme bundle compared to the GT DD Pro bundles that I reference above. Rather than getting a complete ready-to-race bundle that includes a pedal set as well as the complete racing wheel and a table clamp. You only get the wheel base and the steering wheel in this new premium bundle.
The lack of any pedal set is a little disappointing. However, at this price range, the over €1000 category, it is highly likely that you will already own a pedal set. And if you don’t, you may appreciate the freedom of choice, rather than paying extra and receiving a pedal set bundled in that you actually wouldn’t have picked.
If you do plan on racing with this GT DD Extreme bundle, you will need to ensure that you own or buy a Fanatec pedal set. You do have the choice between which pedal set you choose though, from the entry-level CSL pedals to the more premium ClubSport V3 pedals. All of these are PlayStation compatible and would work with this new bundle on PS5 consoles.
With the whole bundle costing €1299.95, we can start to work out how much value this bundle gives you for that price. As part of the bundle, you get three items, the wheel base, the steering wheel, and a pre-installed QR2 Lite quick release. Below is the value of each of these items if purchased individually.
Product | Price |
---|---|
ClubSport DD+ Wheel Base | €999.95 |
QR2 Lite Quick Release | €59.95 |
Gran Turismo Steering Wheel | Not available individually |
With both the ClubSport DD+ and QR2 totalling €1059.95, that puts a value on the steering wheel of €240. Now it’s worth noting that this steering wheel is far superior to the Gran Turismo steering wheel that was included in the GT DD Pro. They may look very similar, but this is a new iteration of that design and the improvements look pretty vast.
Below is a head-to-head comparison of how both steering wheels look. The newer Gran Turismo steering wheel is on the right.
While the overall body and shape look similar there are notable improvements.
This new Gran Turismo licensed steering wheel looks from the outset to be much more high-end than the one included in the GT DD Pro bundle. At an assumed value of around €240, this seems like a very good price. While you can get PS5-compatible Fanatec steering wheels for less than this, the most comparable wheel is probably the ClubSport Steering Wheel Porsche 911 GT3 R V2 which retails for €550.
The good news is that the GT DD Extreme bundle is available to order from the day of launch. Meaning, if you’re reading this guide, you will be able to order the bundle.
Currently, this sim racing bundle is available to ship in both Europe and the United States. However, as demand and orders grow over the coming days, this may change, and it could go out of stock completely or change to a pre-order basis.
Below are links to buy the new Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Extreme from Fanatec directly.
The Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Extreme is designed to be compatible with PS4, PS5 and PC. Unfortunatly there is no Xbox console compatibility directly with this bundle. However, you can swap the steering wheel using the QR2 quick release for an Xbox-compatible steering wheel.

Unfortunately, no pedals are included in the Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Extreme bundle. Only a steering wheel, quick release and wheel base.
The Fanatec GT DD Extreme is more powerful than the GT DD Pro. The Extreme bundle includes a 15Nm ClubSport DD+ wheel base, compared to the 8Nm GT DD Pro wheel base. You also get an upgraded steering wheel.
Fanatec has upgraded the Gran Turismo licensed steering wheel that is included with the GT DD Extreme bundle. It has a slightly revised layout, a new wheel rim design and an included screen.
