Assetto Corsa Evo has released in early access with its full release later in 2025. After some hands on time with the game with a variety of racing wheels, we can recommend our best racing wheels for Assetto Corsa Evo and the original Assetto Corsa.
The best racing wheels for Assetto Corsa Evo allow you to have much greater control over your car. You can race with a controller. However, a good racing wheel can also significantly increase immersion and is the perfect step to increase the realism of this racing sim.
In this guide, I’ll recommend the best racing wheels that we’ve used with Assetto Corsa, as well as recommendations for Assetto Corsa Evo. If you prefer racing GT cars in ACC, view our recommended racing wheels for Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Our recommendations for the best wheel for Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Evo include the best budget wheel, through to more premium options. Below are our favourite wheels across each console along with our top picks for the best budget and premium wheels.
Category | Racing Wheel | Pros |
---|---|---|
Best PS5 wheel | Fanatec ClubSport DD+ | Offering incredible direct drive FFB. |
Best Xbox wheel | Fanatec ClubSport DD | Cheaper than CS DD+, but great FFB. |
Best PC wheel | Simucube 2 Pro | The smoothest FFB from any wheel. |
Best budget wheel | MOZA Racing R3 | Xbox compatible, budget-friendly wheel. |
Best mid-range wheel | MOZA Racing R12 | Fantastic performance at a good price. |
Best premium wheel | Simucube 2 Ultimate | The king of all direct drive racing wheels. |
We don’t have an official Assetto Corsa Evo wheel compatibility list. However, we can use both Assetto Corsa and ACC as a great reference for which racing wheels will be supported by AC Evo when it launches later this year. The original AC and Assetto Corsa Competizione have incredibly wide wheel compatibility, supporting almost all racing wheels from most brands.
PlayStation 5 is a fantastic place to sim race, especially with the release of the PS5 Pro, which provides the most powerful console to date. There are a good selection of sim racing titles on PS5, including the exclusive Gran Turismo games, as well as ACC and Assetto Corsa.
The racing wheel support is fairly good for PS5, with brands such as Logitech, Fanatec and Thrustmaster all having their own PS5-compatible racing wheel.

My recommended racing wheel for Assetto Corsa on PS5 is one of the most recent wheels to be released, and it’s the racing wheel that I use daily on my own sim rig. Fanatec may have had a troubled 2024, but one thing remains clear, and that is just how good their ClubSport DD+ wheel base is.
The Fanatec ClubSport DD+ is the latest direct drive wheel from the German brand, and it introduced incredible new force feedback algorithms and technology. These combine to produce incredibly immersive force feedback that is among the fastest to respond, thanks to incredibly low latency.
One of the great things about buying into the Fanatec ecosystem is the wide range of compatible steering wheels. Over the years, Fanatec has built one of the largest ranges of steering wheels and wheel rims, including multiple partnerships with real-world motorsport brands such as Porsche, BMW, McLaren and more.
When using the ClubSport DD+ with Assetto Corsa on PlayStation, you do need to ensure you use a PS5-compatible steering wheel. This gives you a pretty large selection of wheels to choose from.
My recommendations for the best steering wheels to use with Assetto Corsa on PS5 are;
Racing Wheel | Pros | |
---|---|---|

![]() | F1 Esports V2 | Budget-friendly F1-licensed steering wheel. |

Much like sim racing on a PlayStation, Xbox sim racers have a good selection of exclusive titles, namely Forza instead of Gran Turismo, and there are also a range of exclusive Xbox racing wheels.
Historically, it has been easier for brands to obtain Xbox compatibility than for PlayStation. This has led to a wider range of Xbox-compatible racing wheels, with brands such as Fanatec, Thrustmaster, and, recently, MOZA Racing producing Xbox wheels.

When recommending a racing wheel to use with Assetto Corsa on Xbox, the best wheel you can buy is the Fanatec ClubSport DD. This is the same generation of racing wheel as the DD+ that I recommended earlier; however, this version isn’t quite as powerful and, therefore, cheaper.
The ClubSport DD is $/€200 cheaper than the DD+ due to the lack of PlayStation compatibility and less powerful force feedback. This is ideal for Xbox sim racers, as its 12Nm of peak force is more than enough for most sim racers. I often detune my racing wheels to around 10-12Nm as this is a comfortable range.
This Fanatec wheel features all of the advancements that make the more powerful DD+ an exceptional wheel including the updated FFB algorithm and incredibly fast response rate. Read our comparison of the ClubSport DD and DD+ to find out which wheel is right for you.
Much like the DD+, the ClubSport DD does require the correct steering wheel to be compatible with Assetto Corsa on Xbox consoles. Any steering wheel that has the Xbox logo on Fanatec’s website is compatible with this wheel, and will allow it to work with current generation Xbox consoles.
My recommendations for the best steering wheels for the ClubSport DD are;
Racing Wheel | Pros | |
---|---|---|

![]() | Formula V2.5X | Xbox-compatible formula wheel. |

Racing Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Evo on a PC has a wide range of benefits. The primary benefit is the incredible mods that are available for Assetto Corsa. The modding community has created a huge number of mods, ranging from new cars and tracks, to complete weather and physics overhauls, with many of them being completely free.
The other big benefit of racing Assetto Corsa on PC is that there are many more racing wheels to choose from that simply don’t offer console compatibility. This includes wheels from brands such as Simucube, Asetek, Simagic and more.
Racing Wheel – Simucube 2 Pro
Compatibility – PC
Price – €1438 / $1379
Where to buy –
Buy from Simucube
The racing wheel I’d recommend for Assetto Corsa on PC is the Simucube 2 Pro. It is a wheel base that has been around for a few years but offers some of the very best force feedback from any direct drive racing wheel.
Simucube mastered direct drive force feedback with their second-generation wheel bases. They have three different wheels to choose from, each offering different performance levels at different price points.
The cheapest Simucube wheel is the 2 Sport, offering 17Nm of peak torque. The Pro is the middle-of-the-range wheel with 25Nm of peak torque, and the Ultimate is the top-of-the-range wheel offering an eye-watering 32Nm of peak torque.
The downside of the Simucube 2 Ultimate is that it is incredibly expensive and one of the most premium racing wheels you can buy. The price-to-performance ratio that the Pro offers hits the sweet spot, making it my pick of all three wheels. It is a wheel that I have found performs incredibly well with Assetto Corsa.
Choosing a Simucube 2 Pro wheel base lets you use a huge number of Simucube and third-party steering wheels with Assetto Corsa. You can purchase an additional Simucube quick release hub that lets you mount most steering wheels to a Simucube wheel base.
You can choose between a Simucube steering wheel such as the Tahko GT-21 or Valo GT-23 which are both excellent steering wheels. Or you can opt for a steering wheel from third-party brands such as GSI, Cube Controls and even MOZA Racing.
Racing wheels from brands such as Simucube, Asetek and Fanatec can be incredibly expensive. However, sim racing doesn’t need to be an expensive hobby. There is a wide range of budget-friendly racing wheels from brands such as Logitech, Thrustmaster and MOZA Racing.
These budget wheels make excellent choices for Assetto Corsa Evo, allowing you to try out sim racing without an incredible expense.
Racing Wheel – MOZA R3
Compatibility – Xbox, PC
Price – £399/$399
Where to buy –
Buy from MOZA
Just a few years ago, if you wanted a budget racing wheel for Assetto Corsa or any other sim racing title, you’d be looking at a belt or gear-driven wheel. This style of wheel uses a small internal motor, and a system of gears or drivebelts to transfer the force feedback to the steering wheel. This is a great budget option. However, it lacks the performance and fidelity that a direct drive wheel can produce.
MOZA Racing has bridged the price gap that normally exists between gear and direct drive wheels with the R3. This wheel base is an incredibly small direct drive wheel that produces 3.9Nm of peak torque which is impressive given its small form factor.
This wheel is compatible with Assetto Corsa on PC and Xbox consoles, and is currently the cheapest Xbox direct drive wheel available from any brand. The detail within the force feedback is incredibly impressive, thanks to MOZA Racing’s excellent force feedback algorithm that is also present in the R9, R12 and other wheels.
The R3 also packs an impressive punch with just under 4Nm of peak torque. This is a big increase from the 2Nm that is present in gear and belt wheels such as the Logitech G923 and Thrustmaster T128.
MOZA has also released a good number of steering wheels that are compatible with the R3, making this small but mighty direct drive wheel an even more attractive prospect for Assetto Corsa racers.
If you buy the MOZA R3 as a complete bundle, you do get a set of pedals, a steering wheel and a table clamp included, making this an excellent price for a complete sim racing bundle.
MOZA Racing does offer alternate steering wheels and pedals that can be used with the R3 wheel base, allowing you to upgrade it over time. The recently released CRP2 Pedals are compatible with the R3 wheel, offering high performance load cell pedals as an upgrade. Watch our review of the CRP2 pedals here.
If you wish to swap your steering wheel, you can opt for the formula-style ES wheel mod or the recently released ESX wheel. Both of these are directly compatible with the MOZA R3 and Xbox consoles. If you are racing with the R3 on a PC, you have the choice of any of MOZA’s current steering wheel lineup.
I did mention just above that sim racing doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby thanks to budget racing wheels. However, if you have money to spend, you can certainly spend a lot on an absolutely fantastic direct drive wheel.
Racing Wheel – Simucube 2 Ultimate
Compatibility – PC
Price – €3130 / $3949
Where to buy –
Buy from Simucube
The Simucube 2 Ultimate represents the best that sim racing has to offer in terms of raw performance. This wheel base should really be reserved for professionals, as it is just so expensive. The performance you get for the high price tag is incredible, and its among the strongest force feedback you will ever feel.
The Simucube 2 Ultimate does cost an eye-watering €3130 / $3949, but it delivers 32Nm of peak torque. This is far too much for 99% of sim racers. Putting this into context, I generally race with around 10-15Nm of peak torque, depending on the car I’m driving.
If you are looking for maximum performance from your racing wheel and want to feel every single detail of how your car is reacting to the track in Assetto Corsa, the Simucube 2 Ultimate really is the ultimate choice.
When choosing a racing wheel for Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Evo, you have a lot of choice. Certain wheels will be a better fit depending on your budget and the console you are choosing to race on. Our recommendations above include the best Assetto Corsa racing wheels at different prices and with different compatibility.
I’ve been lucky enough to race with all of the wheels above, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend any of them. The two racing wheels that I currently have set up are the Fanatec ClubSport DD+ and the MOZA R3, which I use for testing different sim racing setups. These are among my favourite sim racing wheels offering great performance at different ends of the price spectrum.
My top pick for the very best racing wheel for Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Evo is between the Fanatec ClubSport DD and the MOZA R3. Both of these wheels offer great performance at different prices.
You can play Assetto Corsa using a controller, however, the realistic simulation physics do make controlling the cars with a controller a bit tricky. I recommend using a racing wheel with Assetto Corsa if possible as this will improve your car control as well as the realism and immersion.
Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Evo are both compatible with a wide range of racing wheels from different brands. If you are racing Assetto Corsa on a console such as Xbox or PS5, you will need to ensure that you use a compatible racing wheel for your platform.
