High-performance sim racing brand Asetek has just announced that they have partnered with Xbox to make new and some existing products Xbox-compatible. This means that you will soon be able to sim race on Xbox using an Asetek racing wheel and pedal set.
Asetek Sim Sports is one of the newer sim racing brands, established in 2021. Despite this, Asetek has been incredibly popular, with its range of direct drive wheels and high-performance load cell pedals being very highly reviewed. We couldn’t have spoken more highly about the Forte wheel base or pedals in our review, which you can watch below.
Many newer sim racing brands, especially those that offer high-performance hardware, focus entirely on PC sim racing. This is mainly because many sim racing titles, such as iRacing or Automobilista 2, are only available on PC, so many in the sim racing community choose PC to race.
The other factor is that manufacturing an Xbox or PlayStation-compatible sim racing product adds extra cost and complexity, which can drive up prices. Asetek has taken a few years to establish itself within the sim racing community, becoming a well-known brand along with others such as Simucube and MOZA Racing.
Asetek has now promised to make console-compatible hardware that ensures seamless connectivity and delivers authentic racing experiences on Xbox consoles. We’ll have to see whether Asetek will expand its compatibility to PlayStation. However, this is a big step in the right direction towards making Asetek hardware more accessible.
During the announcement, Asetek confirmed that its first Xbox-compatible sim racing products will be launched in the second half of 2025. This means that we will have to wait around a year from this announcement until we see the first Xbox products launched or announced.
Asetek hasn’t announced which exact products will become Xbox compatible in 2025. However, they have stated that selected existing products will be made Xbox compatible and will work on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
This could mean that some Asetek products already have the required hardware internally, and the Xbox compatibility will be delivered with a software update, although this hasn’t been confirmed.
It is highly likely that Asetek will try to achieve Xbox compatibility with its wheel bases and pedal sets. The La Prima wheel base and pedal set are a good candidate for console compatibility due to their lower price point.
