Purchasing any wheel base shouldn’t lock you into using just a single ecosystem, and Asetek knows this. The Danish sim racing brand has its own complete ecosystem comprising some of the best direct-drive wheel bases, steering wheels, pedals, and accessories.
Despite this extensive ecosystem, Asetek has ensured their wheel bases are compatible with third-party steering wheels. Buying steering wheels from different brands opens up a huge amount of choice. Thanks to the Asetek Invicta Quick Release Adapter, you can use any steering wheel with any Asetek wheel base.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to use the Asetek Invicta Quick Release Adapter to connect any sim racing steering wheel from brands such as MOZA Racing, GSI, Cube Controls, and others to an Asetek wheel base.
The Asetek Invicta Quick Release Adapter features the excellent quick release system that Asetek developed on one side. This takes the place of the quick release that is found on the rear of Asetek steering wheels, and allows the adapter to be mounted to an Asetek wheel base.
On the other side of the QR adapter are a series of mounting holes that can be bolted directly to any third-party steering wheel or wheel hub. The pre-drilled mounting holes include a 6x70mm or 50.8mm bolt pattern, allowing this QR adapter to be used with a wide range of steering wheels.
The QR Adapter includes three shafts of different lengths: 79mm, 150mm, and 198mm. These shafts let you customise how you mount your steering wheel to your wheel base.
This Invicta Quick Release Adapter is different from the Third-Party Wheelbase QR Adapter that Asetek also offers. Read our guide on how to use the Asetek Third-Party Wheelbase QR Adapter and see how it differs from this Invicta Quick Release.
The Asetek Invicta Quick Release Adapter costs €160.99 or $129.99. For this price, you receive the quick release adapter itself, along with three shaft lengths.

The Asetek Invicta QR Adapter features the same quick release mechanism as the rear of any official Asetek steering wheel. This allows it to connect to either the La Prima, Forte or Invicta wheel bases just like a steering wheel would.
Inside the quick release is a metallic contact patch that interacts with the pins on the wheel base. These tell the wheel base that the quick release is attached and can transfer data and power from your steering wheel.
Asetek has partnered with a range of sim racing steering wheel brands to ensure the Invicta Quick Release is compatible with multiple brands.
The QR Adapter includes a USB port that lets you connect a USB cable from your steering wheel to. This prevents any dangling cables that can often be a result of using a third-party steering wheel from a brand such as GSI, Cube Controls or Ascher Racing.
This USB port sends the steering wheel data directly to your PC, allowing you to use all of its functionality.
Some of the brands that Asetek has partnered with and therefore are compatible with the Invicta QR Adapter include;
The three different shaft lengths that come with the Invicta QR Adapter really merge two products together. Sim racing brands often release a quick release adapter and then also release a shaft extension separately. Fanatec recently did this with their DD Shaft Extension, which is solely an extension shaft without an additional quick-release hub included.
By including the shaft extensions with the quick release, Asetek has created a single product that allows you to adjust how you mount your steering wheel to your wheel base and which steering wheel you use.
You can interchange the different shaft lengths to whichever option you prefer. Using the longer 198mm shaft will let you mount your wheel base further back and drop a monitor in between the front of the wheel base and rear of your steering wheel, just like I have done with the Fanatec DD Shaft extension in the image below.
Using the Asetek Invicta Quick Release is a relatively simple process. The adapter comes with the Asetek quick release on one side which attaches to your Asetek wheel base. On the other side are pre-drilled mounting holes. These get mounted directly to your steering wheel.
Follow the steps below to set up your Asetek QR Adapter with your steering wheel.
The Asetek Invicta quick release has pre-drilled bolt patterns of both 70mm and 50.8mm. These will fit most steering wheels and wheel hubs.
In our installation guide above, we have instructions on how to correctly install the Asetek Invicta Quick Release Adapter to any steering wheel.
