iRacing is a racing sim that offers the best immersion when using a racing wheel. And Thrustmaster produces a wide range of racing wheels, all of which work incredibly well with iRacing.
In this guide, I’ll run through how to configure a Thrustmaster wheel to work in iRacing. And I’ll run through our recommended force feedback settings for a variety of Thrustmaster wheels for iRacing. I’ll look at the best iRacing settings for the Thrustmaster T248, T128, T818 and more.

Thrustmaster wheels work with iRacing pretty well out of the box, without much set up required. The main part of settings up a Thrustmaster wheel to work with iRacing is in optimising your force feedback settings.
I’ll show you our optimised Thrustmaster iRacing wheel settings below, but first I’ll quickly run through the process of how to quickly set up your Thrustmaster wheel with iRacing.
Step one is to connect your Thrustmaster wheel to your PC. This is done via the included cables. Many Thrustmaster wheels allow you to connect your pedals directly to the wheel base, meaning only a single cable has to go from your racing wheel to your PC.
Head over to the Thrustmaster support page to download the latest drivers. Select the racing wheel you are using and then download the drivers. This will install the Thrustmaster Control Panel, allowing you to check your firmware. Click the check for update button to ensure you have the latest firmware installed.
Once your wheel has updated to the latest firmware, you can edit the force feedback settings in the Thrustmaster Control Panel. Use our recommended settings below for your specific racing wheel.
Finally, start a session in iRacing. Head over to the options menu where you can change the in-game racing wheel settings directly in iRacing. Again, use our recommended settings below for your specific Thrustmaster racing wheel.
The Thrustmaster T248 was the first racing wheel in Thrustmaster’s new generation of sim racing products. It was evident from the complete change in design over older wheels such as the Thrustmaster T300 and TMX, that the T248 was the start of Thrustmasters modern generation of products.
Unlike other brands that have switched their focus to smaller, more affordable direct drive racing wheels. The T248 utilises hybrid technology combining both gears and belts to translate the force feedback from the motor to the steering wheel.
The T248 produces around 3.5Nm of peak torque making it a great budget-friendly racing wheel. It is designed to compete with other budget racing wheels such as the Logitech G923, and it does so well. Arguably, it has a better design than other budget racing wheels.

The Thrustmaster T128 is an extreme budget racing wheel. It was released after the T248 which could already be considered a budget-friendly racing wheel, however, the T128 slashed the price of the T248 by around half.
This allows Thrustmaster to offer gamers who are looking to try out sim racing for the first time a very competent racing wheel at an extremely attractive price.
While the Thrustmaster T128 does halve the price of the older T248, it also cuts the force feedback power down to around 2Nm. This is still a very capable amount of force feedback, allowing sim racers to feel how their car is reacting with the road.

The Thrustmaster T818 is the American sim racing company’s answer to smaller direct drive wheel bases that other sim racing companies have been releasing over the past few years.
The T818 is Thrustmasters first ever direct drive racing wheel, and it is a very decent first entry into the direct drive sim racing space. It produces 10Nm of peak torque, which beats out direct competition, putting it on par with the relatively new Logitech Pro Racing Wheel.
Thrustmaster has gone in a different direction to a lot of their competition, by focusing on delivering a direct drive wheel base at as low of a cost as possible. This results in the T818 feeling a little bit less premium than other similar wheel bases, mainly due to the heavy use of plastic in its construction.
However, the T818 delivers decent force feedback, and works incredibly fluidly with iRacing using our recommended settings below.

The Thrustmaster T300RS and TX racing wheels are among the most popular racing wheels Thrustmaster has made. They are both part of Thrustmaster’s older sim racing lineup, with the T248 working hard to replace these two racing wheels.
Both the T300RS and the TX racing wheels do still stand the test of time and are still both incredibly good racing wheels, especially for iRacing. Both wheels produce around 3.9Nm of peak torque making them both solid budget to mid-range racing wheels.

Both the Thrustmaster T150 and the TMX racing wheels are the original budget racing wheels from Thrustmaster. They both sit underneath the T300RS and TX wheels in terms of price and performance. And they are the older equivalent of the new T128 racing wheel.
When considering purchasing a Thrustmaster wheel now, neither the T150 nor TMX would really be in contention, as both the T128 and T248 offer better performance and an updated design.
However, they both remain very decent racing wheels for iRacing. If you already own either of these Thrustmaster racing wheels, using our recommended iRacing settings below will allow them both to perform to the highest level.

When it comes to console and PC specific Thrustmaster racing wheels, there are a few very good options. The TS-PC, TS-XW and T-GT II all offer very good performance, with each wheel coming with its own compatibility.
The TS-PC is a PC-only wheel, the TS-XW an Xbox and PC-compatible wheel, and the T-GT II is a PlayStation and PC-compatible wheel. All, however, offer very similar performance and a similar sim racing experience.
All three wheels, despite having different compatibility, all work on PC, and all work well with iRacing using our recommended settings below.
