Forza Horizon 5 remains one of the most played racing titles in 2024 despite being released three years ago. The continued support the game receives with new cars and events is one reason why this sim-cade racing title remains at the top of the Steam charts.
The beauty of Forza Horizon 5 is that you can enjoy it with both a controller and a racing wheel. The game has its routes firmly in simulation gameplay using the Forza Motorsport engine, with some key tweaks for a more fast-paced arcade style of game.
For those who want to enjoy this game with a racing wheel, I’m going to share my recommendations for the best racing wheel for Forza Horizon 5 on PC and Xbox.
For those short on time, below are my recommendations for the best racing wheels for Forza Horizon 5. I have separated my recommendations into a few categories. I’ve picked the best Xbox racing wheel, the best PC wheel, and then the best budget and premium wheels.

If you are playing Forza Horizon 5 on an Xbox, you’ll need to ensure your racing wheel is Xbox-compatible. If it is, then it should work in Horizon 5. When racing on a PC, you have a much bigger choice of racing wheel, and most will work in Horizon 5, including MOZA Racing wheels (although MOZA wheels do require a unique Forza setup).
When it comes to the best budget racing wheel for Forza Horizon 5, there are a few contenders. Logitech has been my long-term recommendation, as the G923 racing wheel is an excellent and affordable wheel that is compatible with all consoles and platforms. It is also incredibly cost-effective, with more and more Logitech G923 deals becoming available as the wheels get older.
There are also a few great options from Thrustmaster such as the T128 and T248 wheels. However, recently, MOZA Racing released its first Xbox-compatible racing wheel, the R3. This is the cheapest direct drive racing wheel available on both Xbox and PC, and it packs a punch from its small direct drive motor.
MOZA Racing are releasing more and more products into its ecosystem as each month passes, quickly making an argument for MOZA becoming the biggest sim racing brand. Recent releases include their first Active Pedals and the incredible Porsche Mission R steering wheel.
The force feedback the MOZA R3 produces is incredibly detailed and punchy despite its relatively low-powered 3.9Nm of peak torque. The force feedback can sometimes feel limiting, especially if you have used a more powerful direct drive wheel in the past. However, you cannot find a racing wheel with more performance on offer at this price range.
If the MOZA R3 doesn’t pack enough punch for you, there are more powerful racing wheels available for Xbox. My recommendation for the best Xbox racing wheel for Forza Horizon 5 and other Xbox titles is the Fanatec ClubSport DD.
This is an Xbox and PC-compatible direct drive racing wheel that outputs a mighty 12Nm of peak force. In my eyes, this is the perfect amount of force feedback, as any more than this can become too strong and uncomfortable to race with across longer sessions.
Fanatec introduced FullForce and Force Feedback 2.0 with the release of the ClubSport DD. These terms describe the extremely low latency force feedback, providing extremely fast response times. This allows you to feel exactly how your car is behaving with the track as soon as it happens.
Thanks to a new algorithm, the force feedback also includes new rumbles and vibrations, which add subtle layers of detail, such as engine and kerb vibrations.
This is the best racing wheel that Fanatec has ever produced, and it’s one of the very best Xbox racing wheels you can buy. It is also completely compatible with Forza Horizon 5.
If you race Forza Horizon 5 on PC, you have a huge choice of racing wheels to choose from. There are excellent options from premium brands Asetek, Simagic and Simucube. However, the wheel I’d recommend is another MOZA Racing wheel.
The MOZA Racing R12 is a PC-only racing wheel, so I chose the R3 as my favourite budget Xbox wheel. The R12 was a landmark racing wheel for the Chinese sim racing brand as it was the first wheel to introduce a new force feedback algorithm.
The new algorithm enhances the wheel’s FFB with additional vibrations and subtle details. In my review of the MZOA R12, I described these additional details as incredibly immersive, giving you an underlying rumble, just as you would feel if you were sitting behind the wheel of a real-world car.
Another reason why the MOZA R12 is also a fantastic PC wheel for Forza Horizon 5 is because it is incredibly competitively priced. Compared to the Fanatec ClubSport DD above, which produces the same peak torque, the R12 is considerably cheaper.
MOZA Racing has also recently released the second version of the R12 wheel that includes a price reduction and improved force feedback.
There are a couple of contenders when it comes to the best premium racing wheel for Forza Horizon 5. Both Asetek and Simucube offer very good high-end direct drive racing wheels.
The range-topping Asetek Invicta produces 27Nm of peak torque, while the Simucube 2 Ultimate creates an incredible 32Nm of peak torque. For most sim racers, these wheels will be overkill, and much of that performance will be unused.
For this reason, I recommend the wheel base in the middle of the Simucube lineup as my recommendation for the best premium wheel. That wheel is the Simucube 2 Pro, which is also the most popular Simucube wheel.
The Pro wheel still creates 25Nm of peak torque, which is still more than most sim racers will ever utilise. However, the Pro offers the best price-to-performance ratio of any Simucube racing wheel and has some of the fastest response times in sim racing thanks to its incredibly low 8.0Nm/ms slew rate.
This fast slew rate combines with some of the smoothest force feedback from any racing wheel. If you are looking to min-max your sim racing setup, the Simucube 2 Pro is one of the very best racing wheels you can buy.
