Car setups in sim racing can make a huge difference in terms of both performance and how your car behaves. A good car setup or tune can improve your car’s handling, creating a more stable car, and allowing you to push the car further and ultimately lap faster.
Alternatively, in Forza Horizon 5, you can tune your car for a wide range of scenarios, from drifting to off-roading, as well as for out-and-out performance around a circuit.
However, the problem with car tuning in Forza Horizon 5, is that there are a huge number of car upgrades that affect your car’s overall performance. And these are paired with a large number of tuning options.
Given the fact that there are thousands of different combinations of parts and car setup tweaks, creating car setups in Forza Horizon 5 can be a tricky process. This is where Forza tuning apps come into play.
Tuning apps for Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport will generate optimised car setups and tunes, based on the upgrades that you have installed on your car.
They work by allowing you to fill in some core information. You get to choose the car that you are creating a tune for, and then you can enter details such as the performance class, and the style of tune you are looking for such as a drift tune, or track tune. Then you input your car’s horsepower, current weight, weight balance and more.
Once you have entered these pieces of information, the tuning app will take the data, and generate a car setup tune for your car using the specific upgrades you have installed in Forza Horizon 5. This car setup can then be copied into Forza Horizon 5 and should create a car that handles better than it would without a tune applied.
The ease of using a Forza Horizon 5 tuning app can save sim racers hours and hours of testing and tweaking.
So that leads us onto looking at the different Forza Horizon 5 tuning apps that are available, and which one offers the best Forza tuning solution.
Currently, at the time of writing this guide, there are two major apps and platforms that provide car setups and tunes for Forza Horizon 5, along with Forza Motorsport. These are ForzaTuner and Forza Tune.
Both of these tuning apps work in similar ways but implement their UI and user experience differently. They both require you to input crucial information such as your car’s performance index, weight, upgrades applied and more.
Let’s take a look at both Forza Horizon 5 tuning apps in more detail.
Compatibility – Website app
Cost – Free
Games supported – FH 5, FH 4, FH 3, FH 2, FM 7, FM 6
Link – Visit ForzaTuner
The first app I’m going to look at isn’t really an app at all. ForzaTuner is a website that allows users to tune their cars directly via the ForzaTurner website. This can be accessed on all devices and is mobile-friendly, allowing sim racers to use their phones while playing Forza Horizon 5 or Forza Motorsport.
Users of ForzaTuner can create their own account which allows them to create and save car setups and tunes. These setups can be accessed at any time, which means you can create a few car setups for a specific car and easily revert back to a previous tune.
Any tune that is created on ForzaTuner can also be shared with the Forza community, and you can also browse other users’ car setups and tunes.
ForzaTuner offers a very intuitive way to tune your car in Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport. You start by creating your free account. Then you simply follow the setup wizard.
Start by entering your specific car that you’re creating a tune for. Then enter your car’s performance class, the style of tune you’re creating and even the season you are creating the tune for.
You’ll then need to input a variety of information which can be found in the garage, such as the tyre compound, which upgrades you have installed, your car’s weight and more.
Once these details have been entered, ForzaTuner will create your bespoke car setup, and show you all of the values. Simply finish the process by copying the car setup into Forza Horizon to test out the tune.
ForzaTuner is the perfect place to start when creating tunes and car setups for Forza Horizon. The recommended car setups that are created offer a good baseline setup which requires a few minor tweaks to be further optimised.
For a completely free platform, ForzaTuner offers a great car setup creator and one that we’d highly recommend. The website creator, FreshGalnet, often updates the website and platform with new cars as they are added.
The great news is that ForzaTuner is completely free to use. You can create your own account and create as many car tunes as you would like. You can save all of the tunes that you have created for all cars and share them with the community. And all of this functionality is free.
Compatibility – App store, Google Play
Cost – Free ($5.99 / £5.99 for Pro version)
Games supported – FH 5, FH 4, FM 7
Link – Visit ForzaTune
The ForzaTune app is different from ForzaTuner above in a few ways. The first difference is that ForzaTune is a mobile app rather than a website, and isn’t accessible on PC via a web browser. Instead, you need to download the app to use ForzaTune.
Another difference is that ForzaTune is split into two versions. There is a free version of the app which allows for base tuning and limited tweaking of car setups in Forza Horizon 5. And then there is a Pro version which currently costs $5.99 / £5.99.
Using ForzaTune is incredibly simple, especially in the free version. You simply input a few pieces of information including your car’s weight, power and whether it is front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.
This will then output a base-level tune which can be copied into Forza Horizon 5’s setup screen. With the Pro version of ForzaTune, you have more options such as specifying the car you’re creating a tune for as well as the style of tune you are after.
One of the best features of the Pro version of the app is that you can input certain driving characteristics such as increasing oversteer, making your car stiffer etc. Then the tune will apply that change across your whole car setup.
ForzaTune is a great way of very quickly creating car setups in Forza Horizon 5. They allow sim racers who don’t fancy spending hours tinkering with a car setup, to very quickly create a good setup.
The car setups and tunes that the ForzaTune app creates, often need tweaking a little bit to really optimise them. However, they are almost always a good baseline car setup to work from.
There is a free version of ForzaTune. This app has limited functionality compared to the premium ForzaTune Pro version. In the free version of ForzaTune you can create base tunes and car setups as mentioned above.
If you like the functionality and design of the free ForzaTune app, you can opt to upgrade to the premium version. ForzaTune Pro allows you to create car setups for individual cars, as well as specify more detailed information.
You can also make much finer adjustments in ForzaTune Pro such as fine-tuning your car setup to improve understeer or oversteer or to increase or decrease your overall suspension stiffness.
These are all features that are missing from the free version of ForzaTune. For the cost of $5.99 / £5.99, the added features are worth upgrading to if you often create tunes or race in Forza Horizon 5 or Forza Motorsport.
If you are looking to create your own tunes for Forza Horizon 5, we have a detailed tuning guide. In our Forza Horizon 5 tuning guide, we run through all of the tuning options in the game, explaining how each one changes how your car behaves.
