F1 23 has improved on the driving physics over the previous Formula 1 game, and that results in better force feedback for those driving with a racing wheel.
In this guide, I’ll show you the very best wheel settings for all of the most popular racing wheels in 2023. Our recommended wheel settings have been optimised for each racing wheel individually.
Below, you will find optimised wheel settings for racing wheels from Fanatec, Thrustmaster, MOZA Racing and Logitech. You can use the quick links below to quickly scroll to the settings for your racing wheel.
We have a new set of recommended settings for all racing wheels for F1 24, the newest Formula 1 game from EA Sports. Follow our recommendations for the best F1 24 wheel settings for all racing wheels.
Alternatively, use the links below to view our individual guide for each racing wheel in F1 23.
Before you enter any of our recommended F1 23 wheel settings, you should first ensure that your racing wheel is set up correctly and calibrated. You can do this by following our F1 23 wheel set up guide.
If you don’t fancy reading our F1 23 wheel set up guide, follow these quick steps to ensure your racing wheel is working correctly and set up.
Connect your racing wheel to your PC or console via the USB cable. Ensure your pedals are also connected. If racing on an Xbox or PS5, your pedals have to be connected to your racing wheel.
If you are racing on a PC, you should download the latest firmware for your racing wheel. This is normally done by installing the relevant software for your racing wheel. For Fanatec, that is the Fanatec Control Panel, for MOZA it is Pit House, and for Logitech, it is G Hub. All of these pieces of software are free to download and install.
The first settings you should update are your direct wheel settings. Some racing wheels include a screen on the wheel base or steering wheel so you can do this directly through your racing wheel. Others don’t include a screen, requiring you to update the wheel settings via your wheel’s software.
Once you have updated your wheel’s firmware and entered the wheel side settings. You should then start F1 23 and enter our recommended force feedback settings below in game.
You can update your force feedback settings in F1 23 from either the main menu or the pause menu mid-race. Head to the options screen, and then navigate to the controls and force feedback settings.
In here, you can customise your F1 23 wheel settings including force feedback settings and controls layout. Always ensure you save the settings after making any changes and they will be automatically applied in game.
The Fanatec CSL DD and GT DD Pro are two fantastic mid-range racing wheels, and both work very well with F1 23. The CSL DD is Xbox compatible and the GT DD Pro is PS4/PS5 compatible making them a great choice for F1 23 on console.
These settings should be set either via the Fanatec control panel, or through your racing wheel if it has a screen.
The settings below should be changed in F1 23’s settings.
The Fanatec DD1 is a powerful direct drive racing wheel, which works well with F1 23 on Xbox and PC. The Fanatec Podium F1 racing wheel also utilises a DD1 wheel base but is PlayStation-compatible. We’d recommend using the settings below for the Podium F1.
The Fanatec DD2 is Fanatec’s most powerful racing wheel and is compatible with Xbox and PC. The recommended settings below are optimised to utilise the increased force feedback performance range on offer from this premium racing wheel.
The Logitech G923 is one of the very best budget-friendly racing wheels and it is compatible with F1 23. It utilises TrueForce to enhance the force feedback that is produced, and this feature is fully compatible with F1 23 on all platforms.

The Thrustmaster T248 is a great budget-friendly racing wheel that works well with F1 23 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. It utilises belt driven technology to create smooth yet detailed force feedback.
These three settings should be adjusted on your Thrustmaster T248 using the built in screen.
If you are racing on PC, these Control Panel settings should be adjusted before starting F1 23. This step can be skipped if racing on Xbox or PS5.
These are the settings which should be mirrored in F1 23 in the controls and force feedback section of the options menu.
The Thrustmaster T128 is a budget racing wheel that is more affordable than the T248. This is a great starter racing wheel for those looking to try our sim racing in F1 23 for the first time.
The Thrustmaster T818 is the first direct drive racing wheel produced by Thrustmaster. It is a mid-range racing wheel that is designed to compete with other smaller form-factor racing wheels. It is currently only PC compatible but offers good direct drive performance.
You will see on every recommended wheel setting above, that I have included two segments. These are divided between wheel settings and F1 23 in-game settings. The wheel settings should be changed via the PC software or via your racing wheel directly if it features a screen.
The F1 23 in-game settings should be set in game, using the recommended settings above for your specific racing wheel. These settings give you control over various different aspects of the force feedback. Below is a short description of how each setting changes your force feedback.
The strength setting in F1 23 will affect the overall force feedback strength produced for all forces. Higher settings will result in stronger force feedback across the board. This can be seen as a master strength setting in F1 23.
The on track effects setting will change the force feedback that is felt while driving across the track surface. Increasing this will emphasise track surface changes such as bumps and marbles.
Rumble strip effects will change the strength of force feedback while driving on kerbs. It is common to reduce this setting to stop kerbs being too aggressive.
Off track effects will change the strength of forces while driving off track across grass and gravel traps.
The wheel damper settings simulate friction and track-to-tyre contact. Increasing this setting will increase the overall weight of your racing wheel. Don’t increase it too far otherwise, it will feel like you’re racing wheel is too sluggish.
The recommended F1 23 wheel settings above are the optimised wheel settings for each racing wheel in F1 23. Using the optimised settings should improve how your force feedback feels while racing. Feel free to change these settings, as these are designed to be a great starting point for you to work from.

To match the in-game steering rotation, you should set your wheel rotation to 360 degrees. Decreasing this below 360 degrees will make the steering more sensitive.
Every racing wheel performs differently and produces different force feedback. To optimise each wheel, slightly different F1 23 settings are required.
