F1 23 » F1 23 Best Fanatec Wheel Settings: CSL DD, GT DD Pro, DD1 + More
This guide runs through our recommended wheel settings for all Fanatec racing wheels in F1 23. Include wheel settings for the CSL DD, GT DD Pro and more.
Racing F1 23 with a sim racing wheel is one way to increase your immersion in this year’s Formula 1 game. And there aren’t many better wheels than those from sim racing company Fanatec.
In this guide, I’ll run through our recommended optimised wheel settings for all Fanatec racing wheels in F1 23. I’ll show you the best force feedback settings for the CSL DD, GT DD Pro DD1 and more.
Before changing any wheel settings, you should first ensure that your Fanatec racing wheel is correctly set up with F1 23. This will help avoid any potential issues while racing.
Below is a quick guide on how to set up a Fanatec wheel in F1 23. Scroll down to see our recommended force feedback settings.
Step 1 is to connect your Fanatec wheel and pedals to your console or PC. This is done via a USB cable that runs from the rear of the Fanatec wheel base into your console or PC. The pedals should be connected to your wheel base.
If you are racing F1 23 on PC, you should download the Fanatec control panel. This will allow you to update your wheel’s firmware to ensure compatibility with F1 23. The control panel can be found on Fanatec’s support website.
With most Fanatec wheels, you can change some wheel settings directly through the steering wheel. If you can’t, you can change these settings via the Fanatec control panel. Use our recommended wheel settings below for your racing wheel as each wheel requires different settings.
The last step is to change the force feedback and vibration settings in F1 23. This is done in game via the controls menu. Again, use our recommended settings for your particular wheel below.
Both the Fanatec CSL DD and GT DD Pro perform almost identically, allowing us to use the same recommended wheel settings in F1 23. Both of these wheels are Fanatec’s entry-level racing wheel, with both providing direct drive technology for a relatively affordable price.
These settings should be set either via the Fanatec control panel, or through your racing wheel if it has a screen.
The settings below should be changed in F1 23’s settings.
The Fanatec DD1 wheel base is the next step up from a CSL DD. The DD1 creates a peak torque of 20Nm, which is incredibly powerful, and enough to create extremely detailed force feedback.
If you have a Fanatec Podium F1 racing wheel, these settings should be used, as the wheel base in the Podium F1 bundle is a DD1.
The Fanatec DD2 is the most powerful racing wheel you can buy currently from Fanatec. The DD2 produces a whopping 25Nm of peak torque, which is more than enough for most sim racers.
By providing the strongest force feedback of any Fanatec racing wheel. The DD2 can create extremely detailed force feedback in F1 23, allowing you to notice incredibly small details in how your car is behaving on track.
While you can change some wheel settings on your Fanatec racing wheel directly, the in-game F1 23 settings allow you to control force feedback while driving on different track surfaces.
These settings give you control over how the kerbs and on track areas feel through your racing wheel. Below is a quick guide on how to change the F1 23 wheel settings.
The above settings are designed for each of Fanatec’s four wheel bases, but there is another choice to make when finding your perfect Fanatec racing wheel. And that is the steering wheel.
Fanatec has a huge range of sim racing steering wheels that include licensed wheels from car manufacturers such as Porsche, McLaren and BMW. They also have a range of Formula 1-style steering wheels, as well as an official Formula 1 branded steering wheel.
Any of Fanatec’s steering wheels can be used with the four wheel bases, the CSL DD, GT DD Pro, DD1 and DD2. But you do have to check for console compatibility. Some steering wheels only work with either Xbox or PlayStation, so it’s worth checking before you buy.
Our pick of the bunch has to be the Fanatec F1 Esports V2 steering wheel. It’s the only official Formula 1 branded steering wheel that Fanatec sells. And it is also used in Esports competitions which shows just how good the wheel is.
You can view Fanatec’s full range of steering wheels here.
F1 23’s force feedback settings are designed to give you control over just how strong the force feedback from your racing wheel is. As well as this, there are a few more detailed areas of the F1 23 settings that can be changed to affect certain parts of your racing.
The on track effects, off track effects and kerb effects all individually change how prominent the force feedback is at each of these parts of a track. Increasing any of these settings will increase the strength of force feedback in that particular area.

All current Fanatec racing wheels are compatible with F1 23, you just need to check the console compatibility of your racing wheel. Some Fanatec racing wheels only work on either Xbox or PlayStation, and sometimes not both.
Fanatec has collaborated with Formula 1 to deliver an officially licensed Formula 1 steering wheel, the F1 Esports V2. This steering wheel is used in official Esports competitions and carries the F1 logo on the front of the wheel itself, making it the perfect choice for F1 23.
