We’ve had our first look at F1 25 with the first reveal trailer featuring Lewis Hamilton, the first look at gameplay and more. In this guide, I’m going to discuss when F1 25 is likely to be released, what features will be included, and when we’ll get the first official trailer.

Below is the first look at F1 25, with the official reveal trailer.

When will F1 25 be announced?

F1 25 has been officially announced, with its first trailer showcasing a range of game features including Braking Point 3, the integration of the F1 movie and the first snippets of gameplay.

When will F1 25 be released?

Moving on to the question of when F1 25 will be released, we can look back at the previous trends. EA Sports and Codemasters have been bringing the release date further forward each year.

  • F1 22 released in July
  • F1 23 released in June
  • Last year’s F1 24 was released in May

I can’t imagine this trend will continue and the game will release any time before May, especially as we are already behind last year with the official game reveal. May is likely to be the release date windowfollowing last year’s game; however, it would be no surprise if the release date were moved back to June following the harsh criticism last year over the handling model at launch.

EA sports and Codemasters may want a little extra time with the play test and development to really iron out the handling this year.

What platforms will F1 25 launch on?

It is likely that EA Sports will follow the normal release pattern, with the game launching on Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well as PC. A Nintendo Switch release is unlikely, as there hasn’t been an F1 game on Nintendo since 2009. However, if the Switch 2 releases with a big graphical and hardware improvement when it launches in 2025, this could pave the way for F1 games on Nintendo once more.

Will the game be called F1 25?

Since EA Sports’ release of the official WRC game, called EA Sports WRC, there has been speculation that the Formula 1 game will follow suit. This could mean that EA Sports drop the year from the title, and simply call the game EA Sports F1.

With the game’s popularity decreasing every year since 2021, the move to a non-annualised style of game release could be a smart move. (F1 2021 was the most popular F1 title in recent years with an all-time player peak on Steam of 25,575, with F1 24 only reaching and all-time peak of 11,925).

This speculation of a name change has only increased since the beta sign up was announced, as the beta is simply called the EA Sports F1 Beta. There is no yearly number like there was last year.

Dropping the yearly release schedule, and using a DLC upgrade route, similar to how Assetto Corsa Competizione and other sim racing titles work, could be a smart move. This would give the developers more time to focus on meaningful upgrades to the handling throughout the life of the game, without the inevitable handling issues that often plague the start of any F1 game at launch.
