When choosing which racing wheel to use in F1 25, Fanatec wheels will often be in contention. The German sim racing brand has one of the largest sim racing ecosystems, with racing wheels compatible with all platforms, including PS5, Xbox and PC.

Due to this, many sim racers will be racing this year’s Formula 1 game with a Fanatec wheel. If you are one of these players, optimising your Fanatec racing wheel settings for F1 25 can provide you with better car control, improved force feedback and an advantage over the competition.

In this guide, I’ll share my recommended Fanatec wheel settings in F1 25 for all Fanatec wheels.

Fanatec wheel settings for all wheels

Below is a table of all the wheels that will be included in this settings guide. I’ve also included some key information about compatibility and price for those looking at buying a new racing wheel for F1 25.

Our recommended Fanatec racing wheel for F1 25

All modern Fanatec wheels work well with F1 25, however, if I were to choose just one, it would be the GT DD Pro. This racing wheel was designed specifically for PS5 consoles, but works perfectly with an Xbox console when using an Xbox steering wheel.

Its combination of mid-range price and excellent force feedback performance make it a great racing wheel choice for F1 25. You can also swap the steering wheel for any F1 style Fanatec wheel such as the F1 Esports V2 for maximum Formula 1 immersion.

Why change wheel settings?

there is no requirement to change your wheel settings in F1 25. However, doing so can improve the feeling you get through your wheel, and the control you have on track.

The goal of adjusting your F1 25 settings is to enhance your gameplay experience and improve car control. When tuning force feedback settings on a racing wheel, including a Fanatec wheel, the aim is to achieve a natural, responsive, and comfortable feel while maximising the feedback detail from the track.

While F1 25 offers preset configurations for Fanatec racing wheels, these default settings are often not fully optimised. Our recommended Fanatec wheel settings for F1 25 specifically improve the overall feel, boost immersion, and help you extract maximum performance on Xbox, PS5, and PC.

Recommended calibration settings

Adjusting the calibration settings for your racing wheel can help you dial in the perfect feeling regards to your inputs. You can change settings such as the linearity curve and deadzones which affect how your wheel registers in game.

The only setting within the calibration settings that you’ll need to change for a Fanatec wheel is the steering linearity. Setting this to around 5% will give better progression to the steering inputs. All of the other settings can be tuned to adjust your pedal inputs.

Recommended settings – CSL DD & GT DD Pro

Below are all of the recommended settings for a Fanatec CSL DD and GT DD Pro. I’ve included settings for the Fanatec tuning menu first, followed by the in-game F1 25 settings. You can adjust the tuning menu settings on your steering wheel (if it has a screen), or via the Fanatec Control Panel on a PC.

Note: These settings are for the 8Nm version of the Fanatec CSL DD and GT DD Pro, but can be used with the 5Nm versions.

Recommended settings – ClubSport DD & DD+

The Clubsport DD and DD+ are Fanatec’s current high-performance wheel bases. They replaced the older Podium DD1 and DD2, and introduced new force feedback technology. Below are my recommended settings for both of these mid to high-end wheels.

Recommended settings – DD1 & DD2

The DD1 and DD2 are Fanatec’s oldest wheel bases that are currently on sale, although they are being phased out. Despite their age, they still work perfectly with F1 25, and using the below settings improve the overall force feedback feeling.

How to use any Fanatec wheel in F1 25

All modern Fanatec racing wheels are fully compatible with F1 25 on Xbox, PS5, and PC, as long as the wheel is compatible with the console. For example, the CSL DD is only compatible on Xbox and PC, so will not work with a PlayStation console.

F1 25 includes preset configurations for most Fanatec wheels, covering default force feedback settings and button mappings. However, to get the best racing experience and improve your lap times, we recommend fine-tuning the in-game settings using our optimised Fanatec wheel setup.

To properly set up your Fanatec wheel for F1 25 and achieve the best performance, follow these steps:

  1. Mount your Fanatec wheel and connect it to your PC, Xbox, or PS5, then power it on.
  2. If using a PC, update your wheel’s firmware through the Fanatec Control Panel software to ensure maximum compatibility and performance.
  3. Adjust wheel settings via the tuning menu on the wheel or through the Fanatec Control Panel on PC.
  4. Enter our recommended in-game F1 25 wheel settings specific to your Fanatec model.
  5. Run a button test in F1 25 to confirm all inputs are working correctly.
  6. Customise button mappings and inputs to match your personal preferences.

By following these steps, you’ll set up your Fanatec wheel for F1 25 quickly and enjoy a smoother, more immersive driving experience.

Should you update Fanatec firmware when playing F1 25 on Xbox or PS5?

A common question from F1 25 players is whether it’s necessary to update the firmware on a Fanatec racing wheel when using it on a console. While firmware updates aren’t strictly required for Xbox or PS5, we highly recommend occasionally connecting your wheel to a PC to check for updates. Firmware updates can unlock new features, improve force feedback performance, and fix potential issues, in turn helping you get the most out of your Fanatec setup in F1 25.

How do I adjust force feedback settings on the Fanatec GT DD Pro for F1 25?

You can adjust the settings through both the Fanatec wheel tuning menu and the in-game F1 25 controls settings menu.

Why is my Fanatec GT DD Pro too strong or too weak in F1 25?

If your Fanatec wheel feels too strong or weak, you can adjust the FFB strength in both the Fanatec tuning menu and the F1 25 game settings.

What does FFB strength mean in F1 25 and how does it affect driving?

FFB strength controls how much road feel, curb vibration, and car weight you feel through the wheel. A higher value increases realism and the strength of all force feedback effects in game.

How do I reduce clipping on the Fanatec GT DD Pro in F1 25?

Clipping is when you set the force feedback strength too high and the FFB hits the upper limit of the wheel. To reduce clipping, lower the in-game FFB strength so the wheel doesn’t max out its force feedback output.
