Coming from one of the fastest tracks in F1 25, Monza, we have Baku which has one of the longest straights in the game. This forces us to consider our top speed during our setup. However, the rest of the track is characterised by slower 90 degree corners and the incredibly technical castle sector.

This combination of slow corners and fast straights, means we have to create a low downforce setup with good rotation, and even better traction.

Aero setup

To achieve this, I have set the aerodynamics to 10 at the front and 9 for the rear wing. This is very low downforce, with time trial setups often opting for the mid teens for both front and rear.

While rear traction is important, its more important to have a car that doesn’t understeer, otherwise you’ll be throwing away a lot of lap time around Baku.

Transmission setup

The transmission setup is where we can start to dial in the behaviour out of the corner, as well as on the entry. The on throttle is set at 65%. This is relatively middling, not too high and aggressive, but not so low that you’ll lost a lot of time through the faster turns.

If you’re struggling for traction out of the slower corners, you can lower this down to 40-50% to prevent a little wheelspin. I’ve then gone and set the off throttle diff to 25%, which will help us rotate better on the entry to the slower corners.

Suspension geometry setup

With the geometry, I have it all set to the left once again.

Suspension setup

As traction is key, I’ve left the rear suspension setup at just 1 to allow the car to squat down and grip up under acceleration. Then set the front suspension to 41.

For the anti-roll bars, I’m running them at 12 and 18. This is tailored more towards stability which is very important through the middle and final sectors. Then go with a ride height of 20 and 47.

Brake setup

I’ve opted for 54% on the brake bias. Despite there being a lot of straight braking zones, having the bias slightly more rearward can open up the car to rotate better into a corner. This helps us get the car turned in to the slow and medium speed corners while trail braking. Then set the pressure to 100% as always.

Tyre setup

Finally, for the tyres, I have opted for 29psi on the front which is just below maximum. We want our tyre pressures high for the best straight line speed, however, when set to maximum, the fronts were staying just a little bit too cold.

Then set the rear pressures at maximum as well, as they’ll take a lot of punishment through all of the heavy traction zones. And this can cause them overheat easily.

Conclusion

And that completes our F1 25 Baku car setup. This is a track that can be intimidating to drive due to the skinny nature and close walls. However, when you get into a good rhythm, this can be a very fun and enjoyable race. And that’s exactly what I’ve aimed for with this consistent car setup.

If you’re not focusing on racing the AI, a slightly higher downforce car setup can be the best approach. That is the route our setup team has gone down with our pro F1 25 setups and strategies pack. Those setups are created by faster, more talented drivers than myself, and they are designed to be among the quickest setups you can race with.

Let me know your thoughts on this setup and how you find it during a race. Remember, this isn’t a time trial setup, and is designed specifically for races, and has been created using a racing wheel.
