Track medals in ACC are designed to help you improve and track your skill around specific tracks. Every track in Assetto Corsa Competizione has three track medals that you can earn, with the criteria for earning each medal becoming increasingly challenging.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to earn track medals, how to earn them quickly, and what track medals mean for your overall rating in Assetto Corsa Competizione.

What are track medals in ACC?

Track medals are a part of the track competence rating and are earned as you progress your skill on a specific track. Each track has three medals, and you earn a medal by completing a specific task or set of tasks.

Earning three track medals on a specific track will help increase your overall track competence rating. When racing ACC on a PlayStation or Xbox, your track medals will also help you earn the achievement “The Knowledge” which is rewarded for earning all medals for all tracks.

How to check your track competence

Track competence is one of the eight ratings within Assetto Corsa Competizione. Your overall track competence rating will increase with the more track medals you earn.

To view your track competence rating, go to the “Driver” tab at the bottom left of the main menu. From there, select “Rating” on the left, and you can then click on the rating to view your track medals.

You will be able to quickly see which tracks you have three out of three medals on, and which tracks you still need to earn the medals for. You’ll also see a tracker, showing how many medals you have earned in total. You can see in the image above that I have a track competence rating of 88 due to me earning 45 out of 69 track medals.

How to earn the first medal

Earning the first track medal in ACC is the easiest. You will see the guidelines for what you need to do in the top right corner when you start driving on a new track for the first time.

For the first track medal, you’ll need to complete one clean lap of the circuit whilst staying in control of your car. As you drive around a lap, you will see the bottom elements change from grey to green if you perform a good sector.

If you go off track or lose control of your car, the green elements will change to red and then reset. You need to drive one complete lap of the track while staying in control of your car at all times to earn the first track medal.

How to earn the second medal

The criteria for the second track medal in Assetto Corsa Competizione only unlocks once you have earned the first medal. After completing a single clean lap and earning the first medal, the top right track competence HUD will change to show your objective for the second medal.

To earn the second track medal in ACC you’ll be tasked with driving two clean laps. Much like the first medal, you’ll need to drive to a reasonably fast pace while not going off track and maintaining full control of your car.

Sliding your car, oversteering and understeer can all count as losing control of your car if not corrected quickly. Any of these small issues can cause the green bars to reset, making you complete another two laps.

How to avoid losing control of your car in ACC?

Losing control is defined by any form of slide or tyre slip such as oversteering, sliding or pushing too hard. I would recommend trying to drive just under your limit while earning the track medals in ACC. Not pushing your car too hard can help avoid small mistakes that can cause the progress to reset.

How to earn the third medal

The third and final track competence medal in ACC is the toughest to earn. Once you complete the second medal, you are tasked with driving four clean laps.

Your progress from the previous medal will carry over to the third medal, meaning as long as you haven’t made a mistake, you will already have 2/4 clean laps completed. You will only need to drive another two clean laps to earn the third track medal.

I recommend continuing to drive under your maximum limit and avoid pushing too hard. Concentrate on keeping your car on track and not steering too aggressively to maintain control of your car. You don’t need to drive incredibly fast to avoid the “driving too slowly” warning, so don’t push yourself too hard when trying to earn the third track medal.

What is the easiest way of getting all three medals?

You can earn progress towards track medals in any game mode, both single player and multiplayer. I would highly recommend trying to earn the track medals in single player practice session. This will remove all other variables from the equation. There will be no other cars on the track, and you won’t be competing for fastest laps or positions.

Using the practice mode will give you the entire track to yourself, which can help you concentrate on putting in clean laps and learning the racing line.

Top tip for learning tracks in ACC

If you are struggling with a particular track, you can enable the “ideal line” in the assists menu. This will overlay the ideal racing line onto the track, which can help you learn braking points and where to position your car.

How to get TR99?

TR99 means you have a track competence rating of 99, which is the highest it can be. The track competence is one of seven individual ratings that you can earn and raise in ACC.

To earn the maximum TR99 score, you need to earn all three medals for every track in ACC. This includes earning the track medals for the DLC tracks as well.

Can you disable the track competence HUD?

When you first start racing in Assetto Corsa Competizione, you will see a permanent rating HUD in the top right of the screen while racing. This is dynamic and will change depending on the game mode that you are in.

When practising offline, this HUD will show your track competency and your progress towards the next track medals. Once you have earned all three medals, it will change to show all of your ratings. When racing online, this HUD will also show your overall rating and safety rating.

You can disable this HUD to make the screen cleaner and make ACC look more realistic.

How to disable the track competence and safety rating HUD in ACC

To turn off the top right rating HUD element in ACC, head into the options screen from the main menu or pause screen. Click on the “General” tab, and then set the “Rating” setting to “multiplayer only”. This will remove the rating element from all single player game modes.

FAQs

What causes the track medal progress to reset?

When trying to complete clean laps to earn track medals in ACC, your progress can reset if you drive too slowly or lose control of your car. It will also reset if you go off track.

How do I know how many track medals I have in ACC?

You can check your track medal progress in ACC at any time from the ratings screen. This can be found in the Driver Profile that can be accessed from the main menu. You will see which tracks you have earned medals on, and how many medals you have in total. This will add to your track competence score in the ratings.

Can I disable the track medal HUD?

You can set the ratings HUD to only appear in multiplayer making it disappear in all single player game modes. Do this by going into the options, then general, and toggling the rating setting to “multiplayer only”.
